The general idea is similar I agree, however the actual bridge itself is very different from others.
Belfast also has no 'landmark' bridges, so this is a welcome addition. Quote:

I like the bridge, it'll look fantastic at night, all lit up and reflected in the waterway.

Red brick, Portland stone, Black Cladding and Blue skies... that is what you call a mix!
It really looks the part, and I love how what was a faily unremarkable looking structure (that waterpump station or whatever it is) now looks so striking set against a black cladding backdrop. |

Derbyshire stone would look pretty good too; the stone's tonal range has quite a good balance of gravitas and warmth.

Mann Island block 3 is supposedly to be clad in textured grey canadian granite.
This development over the road from block 3 is due to start in June. ![]()

I like what they've done there, cunningly changing the poster.

Gunwharf Quays Construction

Cheers iltonsko, fascinating stuff.
What was the 'Portsmouth Society's problem with using the top two floors of that old building? Is it that they had restored it as an 'office' and didn't want it changed again into flats? Also, I may be blind but I can't see the old style block with the clocktower on the top in the picture in Image 1 & 3??

In image one it is the L shaped building with the single story annex. The Clocktower and North Wing were lost to bombing and you can see where the roof has been patched up where the clocktower should be. In the second image you can see it with its clocktower and north wing restored.
This is it today if you are interested. ![]() It might be worth noting as well that the Customs House (Vernon Building) is recognised by EH as the Worlds first purpose built office building. That Liverpool Troll doesnt believe me ofcourse and cites a Liverpool building built 11 years LATER as the first, claiming that the Customs House is a warehouse! FACEPALM! |

Aye, it's best just to humour him, if he ever returns that is. Nice customs house though, looks very colonial!

Thanks, though that is not the Customs House, thats the Grand Store House, built a little later, one of the first (though not THE first this time) Iron Framed buildings in the world.
