As I heard, REBIR has moved its industry to China due to the cheap labour, though still all that is operated from Rēzekne..

Really?
Btw - it is also hard to find such thing as Latvian produced toilet paper - I have seen it only in "cenu klubs" and some "Maximas". But it is the cheapest of its kind in our market...

Unfortunately that a common situation on our market. Hardly anywhere would you find anything Latvian-made, except for foodstuff..

Ha. North 66 - everything under this brand is made in Latvia, shipped to Iceland and then shipped back to Latvia and sold several times more expensive than it would cost without Iceland as mediator.
The same about women's underwear and some more things.

"Bau-How Baltic" (Ventspils) starts production today. First sectional houses go to Norway - they will build a hotel for students. So far they got enough work for many months to come with orders from Denmark and Norway.

Technologies of this production are innovative and allow quick and cheap build of houses up to 12 floors high, but in near future they will master technologies for sectional houses up to 40 floors high. (could we ask for working example, please?). Initial technology is elaborated in Norway but further elaborations will take place in Latvia. It allows to build virtually every imaginable building much cheaper and in higher quality - in a way it is revolution in construction sector.
- - -
Already mentioned before - but they will start construction of second factory in September. In total they plan to build 4 factories until 2013, employ 1000 people and produce production worth at least 600 mio EUR per year. Nearly everything will be exported.

If it is a simple concrete activity, investment is for short time, new materials are coming on the market that are as resistant as concrete but also energo-efficient... Requiring new machines and new technology and brand new factories...

That is what I'm talking about. Radiotehnika might be producing great speakers, but you can't buy them anywhere!!!! (Except one RRR store somewhere).

But strange as it may seem, you can find production of REBIR in many stores of post-Soviet countries!

Are they good? Reliable? If they are, just like RRR speakers, why not try to sell them in the west (USA, Europe) instead of just former Soviet countries?

My father bought them in 90-and-white to this day working. Unlikely to withstand the competition in Europe and America, Russia is a huge market that is unable to supply themselves completely, that is why it needs to conquer. Once the tools have produced Rezekne they had got a lot of prizes (Krievijas gada prece 2003), had their own stores in Moscow and elsewhere. But ours entrepreneurs wanted to gain more profit because production moved to China. The Chinese did not pass our quality and therefore, everything began to go mad. They should look for wine investors and improve the facilities .........

Why can't they compete in USA and Europe? They look pretty good and if they last a long time, what else can you ask for? Latvian manufacturers need to start exporting to the west, as far as USA
