if we're gonna talk about deco-echo towers in the midwest, we also have to throw NBC tower in chicago into the mix. it's one of the most authentic deco-echo skyscraper around. random trivia: it was designed by adrian smith, architect of the burj dubai.

Key Tower is beautiful. Pelli recognized that he had a great design for a major office tower and its evident that he didn't want that design to languish. The fact that Key Tower is the realization of that dream is wonderful. Pelli came back and re-designed the building for Minneapolis. The result is the beautiful Norwest Center:

I personally have always loved the IDS center... here's a picture from when it was known as "the finger". It was truly a marvel of engineering and new style at the time (1972)

I wish Indy would get something like a Pelli type, or really just move up from the usual. Minneapolis is really looking great. I still have reservations about that outdoor baseball stadium though.

One of my favorites is the Rand Tower in Minneapolis. It is little known and doesn't get much attention, but i look at it every day out my office window and it is a really good example of art deco. It is 26 stories and was built in 1929.

There are lots of little details all over this building which make it really special in my opinion.
