I like the look of this tower! Very nice! Altho I don't think it will add much to the skyline as its not very tall and very close to other similar height buildings

Frigging hell! That's some progress. I was expecting to some basement construction not a core of 23 storeys. I'd completely forgot about this. A godo skyline filler.

London is booming. Really is gradually hitting the skies.

Well they have to counterbalance the ones that take ages to get built.

No. This is the 2nd of 3 Heron buildings that will eventually grace the London skyline. The Heron Tower which recently opened stands about 800 yards away. This is 36 floor apartment building which I can see rising from my balcony.
Yesterday, I sat in the 78 degree heat looking out at the City skyline. Looking forward to seeing Bishopgate, Leadenhall and Fenchurch Street start to appear over the coming 18 months.

I think this tower is also going to be another addition to The City skyline. But one thing that i don't like about this tower is that it's height. Very Short, and it will not be visible from away? no?

From the recent distance pictures of London I've seen, you can clearly see it, and it's only the core. This tower will match many in London on quality. Wait and see . P.S. SO143 your profile picture made me laugh.

You only need to look at the 100 Middlesex street building (now known as "Nido") to see how big an impact the more recent 100-120m buildings can make. It isn't going to be an obvious stand out building, but another welcome addition that blends the City cluster to that of the Barbican area and help create a more seamless, cohesive look from the South bank (and from other places, of course).

Thanks everyone for posting recent pictures of the progress.

I suppose this tower will impact The City skyline and will be visible from far distance like Primrose Hill.

@Porto do you know where Cybertect posted these original photos before you posted here? I wonder what camera he used, pictures quality is insanely fantastic

To my knowledge he uses a Canon 5D Mk II.

Strange construction process. Kinda similar to the Shard I guess. Just looks weird with the core that high up.

The Heron Construction Advances

With Heron Tower now completed the next foray that Heron International has made in the City of London is speeding along nicely.

The Heron, which thanks to the 285 apartments it boasts will be the largest residential project built in the Square Mile since the Barbican, has now got a topped out core, and the concrete structural frame that forms the podium that the tower rises from has now been completed.

It is here that the Guildhall School of Music and Drama will be relocated to once the project is complete, partly as planning gain for the local council.
Once finished it will accommodate a 608-seat concert hall, a 227-seat theatre plus a further studio theatre, and it goes without saying there will also be space for all the teaching that goes in such a place.

Although the construction has reached this stage, the facilities are not yet fully funded by the Guildhall School, with an £8.5 million shortfall that is currently being raised in a new campaign. The 111.98 metre tall, 34-storey building, designed by David Walker Architects has now had over 65% of the apartments sold, and is on time for completion in 2013.

Elsewhere in the City of London, Heron has brought in Keltbray to start demolition on the site of what will be the 135 metre tall Heron Plaza which is located on Bishopsgate to the immediate north of Heron Tower.
