Maybe..I was quite excited when I saw the construction then when I went to the signboard I was disappointed -_-

Interesting comments about the names. Mandale Heights must be inspired by the Burmese name of Mandaly. Notice that in the description of de paradiso they made no mention of Balestier - like as if it would cheapen the image.

I really hope Rocca turns out alright. It looks cheap and the colour is tacky from the rendering. :borg:

rocco IS a cheapo project :/ the mall cannot be ok - no mall in balestier can be ok, not for another at least 20 years in my guesstimation. it simply is too seedy... look at the cheap hotels and durian sellers and light shops... at least got nice chicken rice.. hrm actually there's one nice condo u/c in balestier... maybe 10 years would do

What you mean by "with malls only?" Then what else is missing there?

I mean ,most complexes are condo + mall + office ,or office + mall ,or office + condo.

Condo + mall complexes are not common.

Heir ,there's a shopping mall called Shaw Plaza in Balestier. This is a condo + office + mall + cinema.

At least it changed the area's 'reputation' of being a shophouse district.

mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm being famous for shophouses isn't bad, but it's the seediness that's killing...

definitions of seedy

Having many seeds.

Resembling seeds or a seed.

Worn and shabby; unkempt: “He was soiled and seedy and fragrant with gin” (Mark Twain).

Tired or sick; unwell.

Somewhat disreputable; squalid: a seedy hotel in a run-down neighborhood

it's not the state of the shophouses, but rather the people... and the businesses...

aiyah..give this road a few years its image will shape up.

The area at Novena MRT used to be depressing and boring with a cemetery, now its vibrant with more malls and businesses. These new highrise housing will hopefully change the population profile at balestier Rd.

it's kind of um a dilemma.. if it becomes another novena it will be pretty and all but it loses its um.. feel... it's pretty hard to imagine prostitution and hilton.. or perhaps durian stalls might one day become old-chic like yakun's kaya toast..

Geylang worse reputation than Balestier ,what!

At Balestier ,you can see the beautiful architecture and not bad what.

Most shophouses at Geylang are Modern and Art Deco styles. And it is notorius as a place of brothels ,crime and the low-life.

De Paradiso apartments to be relaunched at S$598 psf

23 June 2004

SINGAPORE : Developer BS Capital Group is relaunching its freehold De Paradiso apartments this weekend.

The remaining 24 units of the 54-unit development in the Novena area will be sold at an average of S$598 per square foot.

That is down from the average S$650 per square foot at which the initial units were sold in March 2002.

Up to January this year, the developer had endeavoured to maintain its pricing.

The development is expected to receive its temporary occupation permit next month.

BS Capital is the holding company for a consortium headed by listed electronics waste recycling firm Citiraya Industries chief executive Raymond Ng. - CNA
