The next question I have is, why not expand Long Beach Airport in a way that it can handle more domestic services that are operated by other than JetBlue so that congestion at LAX can be relieved and allow it to become an alternative gateway to Los Angeles rather than putting all the pressure on the massive airport on the southwest part of town? I mean, LGB is close to I-405, I-710, and I-605, with convenient access to Downtown LA (via I-405 and I-110), and several lines by Long Beach Transit (but will require a transfer to get to Downtown LA*) operate to and from the terminal... it's a good alternative airport to LAX.

* - to get to LGB from Downtown LA: take the Blue Line train down to either:
--> Willow Station and transfer to either Line 102 or 104 (weekdays only)
--> PCH Station and transfer to Line 176 ZAP
--> 1st Street or Downtown Long Beach stations and transfer to Line 111

If you look at Long Beach, it's really hemmed in. It has one main air carrier runway and a lot of little short runways, that probably don't get much use any more (except for maybe GA). If there was a move to extend these for air carrier use, the people who would be under the new approach and departure vectors would go on the warpath.

Airline Route already published its proposed schedule...

ET504 ADD2300 – 0530+1DUB0630+1 – 0930+1LAX 788 357
ET505 LAX2330 – 1830+1DUB1930+1 – 0600+2ADD 788 146

Here's the interesting thing, though:

The first departure from Addis Ababa would be on 19 June 2015, but the inaugural-ever flight would be from Los Angeles on the 18th. Hmmm... perhaps it could be because the B787 that will be used on the flight will be both a delivery flight and a regular passenger revenue flight? Not to mention, the departure time for Dublin to LAX would be the airport's first long-haul service for the day out of the Irish capital.

What a nickname for the A380, Kenni... The "Orca". If it were me, it would be more like the Beluga, but designed as a passenger plane rather than purely cargo.

And by the way, it seems to me that I could get a lot of very cool close up shots by helicopter too of aircraft landing at LAX (like the KLM B747 landing)... Or is that still on the ground near the Westchester In N Out? I mean, many of those "parallel on the air" landing shots look truly spectacular to me, something I cannot do at SFO.

I admire the Orca, but I hate it. Yeah, most large planes land on the most northern runway almost over In-N-Out, so those are over there. The aerial shots though are probably from a helicopter or most likely a drone.
