Some 23 government and private entities led by the Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) has formed Bitan-ag Creek Alliance (BCA), a multisectoral group aiming to carry out the unclogging of Bitan-ag Creek.
In the past 2 years, the creek overflows during heavy rains affecting the portion of CM Recto Avenue particularly in the vicinity of MUST and portions of Limketkai Complex. This is blamed on people living beside the creek upstream who are ignorant or perhaps just do not care about waste management. Unless these “informal settlers” are relocated, they will continue to dump their wastes into the creek. The problem is that after volunteer groups conduct cleaning of the creek, these “informal settlers” as I said before will still continue throwing garbage into the creek.
The other members of Bitan-ag Creek Alliance are the Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) 10, City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), City Planning Office, City Public Services Office, Masonic Temple – Macajalar Lodge 184; Limketkai Center, Maria Reyna Hospital, Rural Transit of Mindanao Inc. and Barangays 22, 24, 26, 27, 28, 30, 32, 35, 36;Lapasan, Camaman-an, Nazareth, Puntod, Macabalan and Indahag, all stakeholders (with establishments along) of the creek.
Bitan-ag Creek Alliance is also said to be lobbying for the creation of parks near the creek’s banks and will initiate among themselves tree-planting activities. The goal of the Bitan-ag Creek Alliance is “to restore the once-upon-a-time clean water and surroundings of Bitan-ag Creek.”
Meanwhile, the Bitan-ag Creek Alliance welcomed the plan of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to elevate the current Bitan-ag bridge. Another project, a six-foot deep canal along the MUST perimeter, would also be undertaken by the public works department.

ah mao diay tong naa na jud plan i-relocate ang mga illegal settlers beside cucina de oro at the southern portion of LKK complex...napressure jud diay tingali si Emano tungod ani nga Alliance...nice info....I hope tanan illegal setters apil tong part sa creek nga duol na sa pier para dili na na sila diha magsige ug labay ug ilang mga hugaw...kana ra man jud pud sila nakahugaw sa area...walay disiplina nga paglabay ug basura....

it's a natural creek...reinforced with concrete when LKK Complex was developed

dili maayo i-concrete ang cagayan river kay madaot ang natural habitat, the only living river lang raba ni sa usa ka dako na cyudad, usa pa, dako kaayo gasto, butangan lang dike kadto kinahanglan butangan IMOHO

agree, add to that, implement ung walang nakatira sa gilid ng ilog.gawing pasyalan just like the Golden Mile project, have a recreational area, jogging path, exercise equipments, playground..etc..etc... OT na diay kaayo...

natural creek man ning bitan-ag creek, nag gikan na sya sa indahag, kanang sa kauswagan highway man made drainage na
