I know both very well. We could mention some sections of A406 or A112 as well. Although, the question is-are they really roads cutting London?

To be honest I don't really know exactly what was there before they built the highway. In any case, since the highway + the railway lines + the river channel is so wide, a lot of land must have been cleared to build the highway. It would be interesting to see an aerial photo of the area from the sixties.

The newer southern part was definitely built through Holon etc. to Rishon Lezion, although I think part of it was already a smaller road.

The river used to be wider, and flooded often. Now they made it into a channel and constructed the freeway + railroad. I'm not sure how wide the river (floodplains) exactly was though.
