The Kapampangan brethren are some of the most steadfast. There was a time when the dike broke. Still the brethren came by boats and the worship service held at the balcony. At present, the ground level has been raised by 2.5 meters so flooding won't be a problem anymore.

Caveat !

Spain has a long tradition of Islamic architecture and the Spanish form was exemplified in the Mudejar style, which is a mix of various styles including its Islamic heritage. The onion domes are also used in Europe. Kremlin has a great number of these domes, particularly the dome of St Basil.

The raiders know their geography too well that they will not be fooled even by the onion domes. Besides, the mosques in Mindanao and Sulu were capped by a super-imposed pyramidal style until these were renovated using the onion-domes of the Middle East during the 20th-century.

Anyway, its high time we start rewriting and analyzing a second time our history.

sabagay Churches in Austria and Romania are fond of using Mudejar influences... and that Southern Spain was and still is Islamic. Thanks for that info.

Maybe historians did exaggerate the idea of having Mudejar art in the country,.

Magnificent pictures, Igan. I was stunned when I saw those. But I noticed that the pics are better than what we have actually seen when we went there. That church is poorly maintained. I really felt sad about its condition. But I was really ecstatic when I saw Taal town. It has a lot of colonial houses. Very nice indeed!

I agree that most kapangpangans are very steadfast in their catholic faith, but curious lang ako, kasi dito rin sa area na to (pampanga/tarlac) that the INC has the most adherents (outside MM of course). they are not as strong as in other regions.

Exactly my sentiments, Tigs. Hirap kaya kumuha ng anggulo pag madaming kable. It's a Philippine reality that we'd have to contend with as of the present. Perhaps in the future, our power providing/distributing corporations can do away with hanging cables and bury them underground instead. They mire the beauty of our cities and towns.

I've seen some US-built/renovated pictures of kapilyas and they have those wires too. Except that maybe the bigger sizes of the lots allow for angles that avoid showing the wires.

I do not have the figures to support your observation though I think Pampanga and Tarlac would be among the biggest districts in terms of the number of locale congregations. One factor could be that these areas are relatively more thickly populated and that the Church has been propagating in these areas far longer than in the other regions.

The INC started propagating in Tarlac in 1922 and as of January 2007, Tarlac has had 156 locale congregations and 11 extensions (budding locales) spread in the 17 towns of the province (Pasugo January 2007 issue). The INC gained foothold in Pampanga in 1918 (Pasugo January 2004 issue). It had 117 locales and 15 extensions in the 20 towns and cities of the province at the time of the magazine's publication. Despite the trials brought about by the Mount Pinatubo eruption, 26 new locale congregations and 17 new extensions were added to the Pampanga district from 1991 to 2004.
