Thankfully .. Jakarta's skyline that you think is ugly, it can represent many pretty towns in the southern hemisphere were included in the ranking list of the best skyline in the world.
Was ranked 15th, Jakarta became the only city of the southern hemisphere were included in the top 20 best skylines in the world.

That list is purely based upon how many tall towers a city has.

It has nothing to do with archtecture, build quality, aesthetics, beautiful natural settings and skyline cohesion, all of which are just as, if not more important for a skyline & all of which Jakarta either fails or is subpar on.

You honestly think SAU PAULO!!, chongqing and half a dozen other Chinese cities have a nicer skyline than Sydney?

Also, those pics really don't help your case. Bland and ugly.

As much as I like seeing images of different cities, there seems a small band of forumers here content with constantly spamming everyone with images of Jakarta. In some cases the images have already been posted within this thread. I think everyone here has seen about as much of the city as required to make a judgement. The images posted are often samey, bland and lack discretion in their selection. Users will be more impressed with a couple of showcase images than a multitude of images that all look the same.

Personally it would be nice for others to post some interesting images of other cities in the Southern Hemisphere rather than get drowned out in 10000 images of the one city. Jakarta is an interesting and emerging skyline but it does remind me of the chaos and disorderly planning in Bangkok which IMO is a bad thing. It seems to me there could be ways to better manage outcomes with more guidance focussing on the city's future direction and development. There are a great number of cities that could be represented here with vast difference in population, culture and wealth, it's interesting to see how this affects planning and skyline development.

Also to those posting images of proposals or visionary images of towers yet to even break ground ... don't. It provides nothing to this thread and simply confuses people. If the towers are not yet build there is no reason they should be posted as they contribute nothing to this debate.

Can you stop spamming and posting shit! It makes viewing these threads tiring and challenging. It puts users off. It looks as though it's just another subjective piece of data to suggest Jakarta is somewhat special. If users are not posting Jakarta as their favourite skyline it could reflect on the actual skyline, rather than posting subjective facts and another 20000 large images of the city or visionary proposals that try to convince people otherwise, why not sit back and actually look at the competition and enjoy the thread rather than destroy it. If I come back here in a day and see another 50 large boring images of Jakarta I might just start posting 100s of images of toilets for your enjoyment. While anecdotal I would say most would argue that Jakarta is ugly, that won't stop it becoming someone's favourite skyline but overall it's unknown, bland, lacks sophisticated planning, and has been poorly realised to date. Things may change in the future but your argument is currently very weak.

BTW What the hell is this list anyway? This list is some half baked list put out by a random person with his own agenda. The title certainly is no reflection of the subject matter. It's not a statement of fact but subjective and somewhat anecdotal, even misleading. It's not constructive or an affirmation or reality it's simply you using something to further a tired agenda. Best is not a term that usually applies to quantity it's a term applied moreover to reflect on quality or at least a combination of both.

I could just post this photomontage of Sydney 2050 but would it be real or fair to do so? No.

or this...

Unlikely, I think the bad camera is actually improving the photos, the less we can see the better. Obviously the night photos look great but they are misleading. Many large bland skylines appear great at night when you can't actually see the lack of quality architecture and seedy monotonous concrete towers.

I'm gonna go ahead and post this picture of Melbourne to get the thread back on track.

I'm not sure they get it. Keeping this thread on track is about as likely as Jakarta winning a beauty pageant.

Lol not to be blunt about it but when I read these threads I tend to think are skylines really that important to a city to be the worth the pages of phallus measuring drivel outside of skyscapercity.com? I'd take a city without a skyline but with some actual substance at street level any day over one with a kick ass skyline but with nothing underneath

Here's a good aerial showing the CBD and several inner suburban Sydney skylines.

Kindly asking him to be more humble in posting pics is enough IMHO. Calling particular city as ugly is too much.
