Dutch people are more intelligent, if you really wanted me to use that word!
![]() Italian is just the most beautiful language on Earth!! Totally worth learning it. It spoken by over 80 million people and has a great status internationally.

Italy may be bad now but it still has some strong cities, companies, and for me, it's useful because, as I work in tourism, the more languages I work with, the more tourists we can get. At the port wine cellar where I work as a guide, I'm the only one for italian and german, so the company trust me for those languages. I wanna be tour guide in the future, so it's useful as italians like to travel, and we get quite a lot in Portugal.
I went to Italy not really because I wanted, but kind of by accident. I applied for a volunteer work and I was chosen for an italian (in that case, sardinian) organization, so off I went and it was really cool. And Italian helped me with learning Spanish better and I got to understand French better too ![]() Plus, there's the italian swiss too! And yes, I love the language, the sounds (much more melodic and smooth, even sweeter, than Spanish), the country, music, culture... and I love the different dialects (and languages) of the country. Italy was my home for about one year. BTW, gotta post a few pics. why do I like italian?? To understand beauties like Just because the herd goes one way, why do I have to follow them? If they go to fall from a cliff, do I really have to join them? Cogito ergo sum, so I do what I want. We gotta be and live an alternative way. About people presenting themselves as Swiss or French, it happens. Sometimes at my work we get some emmigrants who live for many years there and when I ask their nationality, they say "ah.... French"... I don't know, sometimes ashamed of the origins, or don't feel identified with the home country already, I don't know. I'm Portuguese and proud of it

The Dutch are capable to speak many languages because of their education system, I don't thinks that they are significantly more smart or intelligent or something like that.
They just realize that they can do more business when they are capable to speak different languages. |

. Yes, there was more than just the Second World War, heavens! You should really brush up on your history knowledge! If you & lilsky don´t like the Germans (for whatever reason...I wonder how many of them you personally know), OK, it is your personal opinion which I have to accept....but please, don´t reduce them to just one dark chapter in history. That´s so off the mark! It is as if I would claim that Angolans are all war-loving , less intelligent than the Namibians or Gabonese, more brutal than nation XYZ or whatever just because they waged a 27 year long civil war. I don´t think that you would like that conclusion and would feel offended as well. I have NEVER said or done anything bad against Angola: I THINK that my MASSIVE CONTRIBUTION & dedication to this sub-forum is kind of a proof and sympathy that I harbour for all that makes up your beautiful country. As for the Dutch achievements, there is no doubt about it but while you are shedding light upon the "bad" German you should also NOT forget that your "cute & innocent" beloved Dutch earned their money by means of SLAVE TRADE ON A MASSIVE SCALE, TOO. We are talking of MILLIONS as well...as opposed to the German Holocaust which is pretty present, NOBODY sheds light upon that dark chapter of Dutch history? Nowadays, everyone loves the "cute, funny, easy-going and cool" - in your case "smart" - Dutch, right? As for the languages: Re-read what I said, where did I say German is a language of global importance? Read clearly which languages I mentioned...it was you who claimed that Italian is a world language/of international status...which just tinkled me pink!Skytrax, Italian is a beautiful language , beyond the shadow of a doubt more beautiful than German (which I personally consider to be an ugly language) and many other languages in this world but a world language or a language of "great international status" as you claim? Seriously, no .....Even German which is a language of no global importance is spoken by more people than Italian.....and even in more countries. Italian is neither spoken in diplomacy/in the realms of international insititutions, nor do the affluent and influential people teach Italian to their offsprings these days, ..in today´s world the rich people help their children to become fluent in Chinese at an early age and more and more people place an emphasis on Spanish rather than French, for example. Jeez what a cry baby that you are!!
Just because I think that Dutch people are smarter (and they really are ) doesn't mean I dislike German people or their country. Where did you read that? Stop acting like a child. ![]() ![]() As for the language you stay with your opinion and I stay with mine. Maybe people think that "status" can only refers to languages that are widely spoken in the world..

For practical reasons, Chinese or Spanish, but for culture and beauty many choose to learn Italian. Operas, paintings...

Actually, you may not be aware of that, but Morocco has as much history as Portugal. Morocco was founded in 789. Tchau.

But Portugal is much famous (and better) than Morocco. Vasco da Gama? Lvis de Camões? Cristiano Ronaldo? Salazar? Nelly Furtado ( yeah)?
How about Morocco?
