I watched the Chelsea v Inter game on TV tonight and noticed the last 5 or 6 rows at the back of the Matthew Harding Upper tier appeared to be empty. Could someone tell me why this was?

For European matches there are more press and tv lorrys present. These park behind the Matthew Harding Stand as there is little space else where. Therefore they have to reduce the stands capacity as fewer fans can fit outside in case of an emergency or just general UEFA health and safety rubbish.

This didn't use to be a problem until they built a Sports Centre behind the stand a few years back which took up a fair bit of space.

There's no way they can sort that out? Its ridiculous situation to have 5 rows empty on one of the most important games of the season..

becasue of UEFA's requirement for distance between pitch and stand.
So at the goal stands it has to be 7,5m+ and at the sights 6m+

Watching the match I too noticed the empty rows. But the listed attendance I saw was at about 39,000 so a good number of seats were taken up (I would assume Chelsea could sell out a knockout round tie against Inter).

Thanks for the images dunc, i always wondered what the ground would have looked like if they had completed it in the 70's.

Would have been great

Inter was simply too good. The commentary with that Andy Gray was outrageous. Sucking up to his employers.

Sky should put a button on the remote that switches Andy Gray off.

Inter were the better side over the two legs.

But they were also very, very lucky in regards to penalty decisions.

Okay, so if Chelsea are bandwagon jumpers and poseurs, and a "fake club", what clubs are "real" and don't have bandwagon jumpers?

3 tiers behind each goal to match it up and create a bowl would be possible, and feasible given Abramovic's deep pockets, howerver I beleive space issues as well as complaints from surrounding residents would put a stop to this idea.
