It's strange also because Brazil wants to host Expo in 2020, so they should be very interested.

Yes, obviously there's still time to join, but there are already 118 participants and it's certainly curious that a country that wants to host Expo in 2020 hasn't yet confirmed its participation to Expo 2015.

It is Chinese the first Corporate Participant of Expo Milano 2015

During a mission to Beijing by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Marta Dassù, it was announced the participation of China Vanke Co. Ltd., first concrete example of the "China Special Project of Expo Milano 2015”

It is Chinese the first Corporate Participant of Expo Milano 2015. This morning, in Beijing, real estate giant China Vanke Co. Ltd. has signed the Participation Agreement of the Italian World Expo.

Attended the agreement Marta Dassù, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Wang Jinzhen, Commissioner General of China (in the picture with the CEO Sala), Wan Fei Ji, Chairman of CCPIT and Giuseppe Sala, CEO of Expo 2015 Company.

This agreement is an important first step of the "China Special Project of Expo Milano 2015", a strategic project for economic cooperation and development that will allow Italy and China to further strengthen the already existing fruitful cooperation.

China Vanke Co. Ltd, which provides over half a million housing units and delivers management services to more than 1.5 million Chinese, will build its own pavilion at Expo Milano 2015, where the "Shi Tang" program will be illustrated. It is a project that provides space for dining where to eat in a healthy, affordable and social manner, pooling ideas and projects, and improving the social fabric of the city.

"China Special Project of Expo Milano 2015" includes five strategic areas: the first, which was announced on the occasion of the signing of China's participation to Expo Milano 2015 in last November, aims to attract and accommodate 1 million Chinese visitors at the Italian World Expo and will have important economic and touristic fallouts for both countries.

The second and third deal with the close cooperation between the Chinese provinces and the Italian Regions and the potential of Expo Milano 2015 as a platform to strengthen economic exchanges and promote business opportunities with the help of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan and Promos.

The project will also have a cultural coté: to make Expo 2015 popular in China and to promote the Chinese Pavilion in Italy through a variety of communication activities, including the realization of special roadshows organized in the main Chinese provinces, in order to illustrate Expo Milano 2015 and its theme "Feeding the planet. Energy for Life. "

Finally, a strategy will be developed to promote Expo Milano 2015 and the Chinese Pavilion through mascots and testimonials, creating business opportunities with Chinese companies in co-branding and licensing.

"China is undoubtedly a strategic country for Expo Milano 2015 - said Giuseppe Sala, CEO of Expo 2015 Company - and I'm really pleased to see how this collaboration, which began in September 2011 with the confirmation of its participation, is getting closer and concrete. Today's signing of China Vanke Co. Ltd goes in this direction, and shows how Chinese companies are able to seize the business opportunities offered by Expo Milano 2015 and believe in its theme and its values. "

Coop Partner of Expo for the Supermarket of the Future

Coop is the “Food Distribution Partner” of Expo Milano 2015. Together with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the first Italian chain of supermarkets will be part of one of the most innovative areas of the World Expo. Coop will co-design the Future Food District, the supermarket of the future.
Purchase through portals and video walls, displays tracing the products’ origin, touch screens and flexible payments. Coop will use the most advanced technologies to make the shopping experience hi-tech and personalized for the visitors of Expo Milano 2015. As Food Distribution Partner, Coop will promote initiatives (tastings, consulting and training) to support healthy eating habits and raise awareness on responsible consumption.

With partnership, worth approximately 13 million euro, Coop will also distribute no less than one million entrance tickets for the World Expo. The supermarket of the future aims to be a model of social and environmental sustainability, exportable in other settings: the objective, to date an idealistic one, is to achieve energy self-sufficiency.
Among the innovations that Coop will make available to the Future Food District’s visitors there will be a “special” cart made in recycled and recyclable materials. With permission, it may be subject to tagging and relative traceability, and provide specific marketing / promotion depending of the areas visited.

Through its network of physical outlets and web sites, Coop will distribute approximately one million tickets to Expo Milano 2015, combining them with products or services.
“We are proud to have participated and won the Requests for Proposal – explained Vincenzo Tassinari, President of the Management Board of Coop Italia during the press conference that announced the collaboration -.The values of Coop are fully consistent with the theme of Expo Milano 2015 ‘Feeding the Planet. Energy for Life’. Coop is not just a supermarket chain with good products at great prices, but also an economic model showing the utmost importance of combining the market’s logic with an increasing social responsibility. The retail point is the place where this model manifests itself and becomes visible, a place belonging to the community where the choices made downstream materialize themselves. Now the participation at Expo Milano 2015 will engage us in the study and design of a new vision of supermarket, a bet that we consider necessary and vital in front of the behavioural changes that we have already registered among our members and consumers. Drive the change and stimulate innovative and efficient projects is part of Coop mission. In meeting this challenge we, together with top Italian producers, will carry out a formidable work to promote Italian excellence in an event which will have over 20 million visitors from all over the world”.

“Thanks to operating partnerships like Coop’s one, the World Expo takes form and strength every day – declared the CEO of the Expo 2015 Company, Giuseppe Sala -.
The theme of nutrition will have one of the highest points of representation within the Exhibition site with this collaboration. The Future Food District will be an area dedicated to the tomorrow innovative eating habits. We are proud that the supermarket of the future will be created together with an Italian chain: it shows the central role played by our country about ‘food’, on an international stage. The focus on environmental sustainability and the promotion of best practices that have always characterized the activity of Coop are a guarantee for the success of the World Expo. Coop and other major international companies have already accepted the challenges contained in the claim ‘Feeding the Planet. Energy for Life’: they will contribute to make Expo Milano 2015 the best place to enhance the Italian and foreign excellence in both food and technology”.

“With the arrival of Coop as Food Distribution Partner – Giuliano Pisapia, Mayor of Milan and Special Commissioner of the Government for Expo, said in a note – we are looking towards the possible developments in the food chain and the active role that consumers will play in it. This is one of the greatest and most fascinating challenges of Expo Milan 2015: the declination of the Exhibition content through the most advanced technologies. The Future Food District goes beyond the Expo and is part of the Smart City Milan project, the intelligent and sustainable city we are building. As testified by the ongoing debate among international institutions and individual countries, we have come to a situation which requires a total rethinking of how we use the land and water, how we can fight malnutrition and overnutrition and their heavy social and economic costs, how to reduce food waste. It is a revolution of ideas and a way of thinking that must concern agriculture, food industry, consumers and especially distribution: we need it to create of a new model of social and environmental sustainability”.

On February, 11th, "Convivio" returns with "The Words of Taste"

On the stage of the Piccolo Teatro Grassi in Milan there will be more talks about feeding. On February, 11th, at 20.30, takes over the second edition of “Convivio. A Tavola tra cibo e sapere” (Convivio. Food and culture on table) with a lecture by Gian Luigi Beccaria. The theme of the evening with the linguist and writer will be "The Words of Taste".

The historian of the Italian language will lead the public to discover the recipe books of the past, among the countless regional variations of the names of bread, wine, sweets, meat and fruit which create the rich Italian culinary tradition and literature.

The readings by Leonardo de Colle will unveil how food has been transferred from the plates to the paper, will explain how writers were able, using words, to give us the food scents and colors, the unique nuances of flavors, capable to satisfy both the eyes and the heart.

The richness of the food becomes verbal richness and lexical invention: after the success of the appointments of November with the psychologist Vittorino Andreoli and the television critic Aldo Grasso, this is the starting point for the series of lectures, organized by Corriere della Sera Foundation in partnership with Expo 2015 to explore the close connection that links food and culture.

The fourth lesson, on Monday, March 11th, will be led by the historian of religions Giovanni Filoramo who will talk about Nutrition and religious traditions.

Admission is free, by reservation at the number +39 02.87387707, or by email at [email protected]

Don''t worry. Just have a look at the last Expo, in China, when Brazil confirmed it's participation in the last minute, and built one of the most horrible pavillions of the event. Probably this situation will happen again in Milano.

Yes, but the worst pavilion of Expo 2010 was probably the USA pavilion! We hope these countries will participate with better pavilions.
