Could Buffalo's Central Terminal be revived and turned into a mixed use destination with Amtrak and light rail components? Tune in later to find out.

Quote:
Along with all of the hotel and residential opportunities comes the transportation opportunities. Terminal City has the ability to be considered The Gateway into The City. If Amtrak were to jump onboard with this development, the Belt Line would be one step closer to reality. The terminal could become a transportation hub, with Light Rail leading into the city. There’s also a rail right-of-way to the airport, as well as bus opportunities. Think of it – the Central Terminal would finally be utilized in the scope and capacity that it was always intended, and could be an awesome economic driver for the entire East Side.

Yesssssss, please!!! I've always loved that beautiful building, and found it such a telling commentary on so many parts of America's urban history. To see it spring back to life would be a dream come true!!!

2020 isn't such a long wait, I guess...

Quote:
By CHARLES V. BAGLIS, EPT. 27, 2016

Mr. Cuomo, a Democrat, said his administration had selected a development team — the developers Related Companies, Vornado Realty and Skanska AB, the giant construction management firm — for the $1.6 billion plan. He announced the plan at a luncheon for the Association for a Better New York, a business organization.

State officials say that all the necessary approvals are in place, as is the funding. The developers will pay $600 million for the rights to the Farley project. Empire State Development, a state agency, and Amtrak, which owns Penn Station, will soon solicit bids for overhauling the station.

“This plan is smarter and better for people who will use the complex,” Mr. Cuomo said in an interview, “and it will actually happen.”
At the very least, it's a first step towards the consolidated "Empire Complex," and financing/funding is lined up. Still wondering about NJT, though...

Not while Christie is governor.

That is an unrelated picture from India. Please don't post things like that when they can confuse people (like me).

At Least One Dead After New Jersey Transit Train Crashes Into Hoboken Station

At Least 3 Dead, Up to 100 Hurt in Major Hoboken Train Crash

This kind of accidents make me very sad, because the second source states that the cause was likely accidental or operator error. Systems to prevent or reduce them were invented nearly a hundred years ago, in the USA no less, but all earlier efforts to mandate PTC have resulted in further extension of deadlines, mostly because of budgetary reasons. What's a persons life worth?

Very sad. They'll probably get sued for more money then PTC would've cost!

Two Long Island Railroad MP15AC locomotives pulling Metro-North M7A cars over Amtrak territory. The M7A are in the process of receiving PTC at the Arch Street Shop in Long Island City.
