Looks similar to the golden silk orb weaver aka Banana Spider. I'm sure it's the same family.

Yes that is the little common spider you see around (as opposed to the Golden Orb Weaver aka Banana Spider which is as big as your head).

I searched Google images for Golden Orb Weaver and it's huge! O.O Seriously, a spider that eats full grown birds for lunch or dinner is not a small spider by any standards xD

I know they aren't baby tarpon. Tarpon have a distinctive look. I'm guessing snook, but I can't see a black line down the side very well.

Yes! This is from my balcony. This is right off Arch Creek where I live now. I even saw a manatee once, right off my balcony. It looks almost like a Monet painting.
