Most 'villages' (pic below) on the Yangtze delta has a 'downtown area'

And downtown Huaxi village looks something like this

This tower however is not in the that area. It's located on the bank of the Yangtze.

There hasn't been a date released yet becuase they have not chosen a final design yet.

Found some renders on the planned Jiangyin Bund CBD. Note that these renders were made before the Huaxi Dragon project was taken seriously, hence it doesn't feature the tower in them.

Huaxi Dragon Tower

Height: 638m
Floors: 128
Location: Wuxi Jiangyin Bund (south bank on the Yangtze river front)
Developer: Huaxi Group
Estimated cost: 15 billion RMB

A press conference in February 2010 revealed that they have narrowed it down to 4 designs, all of them around the 638m-650m / 128fl-129fl range.
The final selection is yet to be announced

Design 1

Design 2

Design 3

Design 4

The press conference itself

If it goes according to plan, Huaxi Dragon will become the world's second tallest building, and China's tallest.
A CBD along the Yangtze waterfront next to this tower is also planned with numerous buildings of more than 100m. This is part of an effort to put Jiangyin on the map.

Indeed even on Chinese forums people are saying this is too whacked and many pondered how much of the central government's tax revenue will be used to fund this project.

Hopefully this CBD will attract many investors and companies to the region, hence giving the people that live in these 'villages' a higher standard of living and a more modern lifestyle.

I think I've seen this render as a proposal for one of those "concept cities" in rural China. If memory serves - a lot of different schools and architecture firms are submitting proposals for various buildings in this "concept city." If anyone has any more/better info do tell.

This however is NOT the same Huaxi Dragon
