Caracas - Buenos Aires flights to increase to 14 weekly

The weekly flights between Caracas and Buenos Aires will increase from the actual 4 that Aerolíneas Argentinas makes on A340 to 14 thanks to an agreement signed with the venezuelan airline Conviasa, informed today the presiden of Venezuela, Hugo Chávez.

This will give the possibility to Conviasa, wich is more modest than Aerolíneas Argentinas, to grow a bit more.

Until a few years ago, there werent any flights between Caracas and Buenos Aires, but at the moment we have 4 weekly flights operated by the argentine airline.

Chávez also said that after the iniciation of the operations to Buenos Aires, the venezuelan airline will need a fleet expansion.

I know it's only in the winter (or summer in the southern hemisphere) but Air Canada also operates a 777 service to Toronto from EZE.

Aerolíneas Argentinas with 21 charters to South Africa

The argentine airline will make 21 charter flights to the african continent for the Soccer World Cup between the 8 of June and the 12 of July.
The flights will be operated with B747-400. It's calculated that the cost of the operations will be of 5.8 million dollars, but with an income of 5.1 million dollars (11 millions)

The B747 that will be used, is currently on the route from Buenos Aires to Madrid (daily) so It will be replaced by 16 flights on A340 between the 8 and 26 of June as this is a period of low international traffic, which wont affect the airline at all.

On June of this year, Aerolíneas will be receiving a seventh A340 which may also be used as a back up for the flights to South Africa and the rest of the international routes that the airline serves.

Although there will be a little reduction of scheduled international flights, comparing with the same month of the past year, there will be an increase of 49% (44 flights more out of 131: 29 MAD, 29 MIA, 15 FCO, 7 BCN, 15 AKL-SYD, 15 CCS, 21 JNB, etc)

The average ticket fare for the route EZE-South Africa will be of U$S 939 (+taxes) which is about 2 times more than MIA (U$S 277) and more than MAD (U$S 447), Rome (U$S 491), SYD (U$S 478)

WOW. $939+taxes doesnt seem to be that bad compared to what I am paying from Houston-JNB for ~$2200
Good that Argentina's national carrier is carrying their supporters to the world cup at decent rates.

Actually, that price I think it''s just for one way, not the roundtrip...
