So that core represents how tall the building is going to be?

Yes give or take a bit. But also add in the sheer length of the building it covers a HUGE area, It will dominate far and wide.

Yes. A core is where things like elevator shafts, stair wells, and service risers go. It also acts as a stiffener for the whole building, and prevents is being blown over in the wind. It has to go up the full height of the building. In the photo, you can see openings in it, which must be elevator openings, or doorways, at each floor.

Good to see you constantly updating this one DJM. Pity the NHS website is always a few months behind. Like you say, a very busy site! Eight, yes 8, tower cranes now on site and a few crawler cranes and 2nd and 3rd cores well under construction.

There are now 10 cranes up on site . I wonder how many concrete mixers they need to pour each floor .

This will probably be a rummor.

I am hearing that this project has a form of outline planning and not detailed planning consent from which the contactors are working from and might be going to court for legal action.

Dont know how true this is !

How can the NHS contractors work on 1 of the biggest projects in Europe and not have detailed planning before procedding with the project.

Anybody any further info on this issue ?

As far as I'm aware, that application that you've posted (10/02171/DC) was the application for full planning permission, which superceeds the outline planning permission granted in (07/01158/DC).

10/02171/DC was granted on 20/1/11, but as you would expect with such a development, conditions were attached.

Have I got that right?

ETA: Think I've got the 07/01158/DC bit wrong, not exactly sure about that application.....

Conditions 37 and 39 both relate to SUDS design, nothing major.

Its the same contractor that ended up in court with the wembly stadium project. Nothing would surprise me.

Is that all of them or is there still some of the core towers to be built?
