Coquitlam - Vancouver Suburb 100+ pics

took some pics around Coquitlam the suburb I call home

to get from one part of Coquitlam to the other part you must pass through Port Moody - well the route i took... which will be the same route the new skytrain takes by 2014 (if it gets built)
Old Port Moody

new development - condos, retail and a hotel

development called New Port - retail, office, condos nice little area - very popular

more port moody...

city hall

now in Coquitlam - Centre area - there never was a "downtown" so over the past 2 decades they have created one - its slowly coming together - they moved city hall and an RCMP station to the area and a theatre and college

new retail is moving in - completed in the last few months

two tallest towers in Coquitlam

large regional mall

there is a large Iranian community in Coquitlam - this will be a large cafe, market - they are hiring but all the info was written in Iranian

lots that sat empty for years are finally being built - should be ready by the time the new evergreen skytrain gets here...

Coquitlam is also home to the largest Korean community in the Vancouver area...

about 5 typical split level single homes were on this block quite the change

some kid of community centre - reminds me of a Crate & Barrel

these are live/work condos - the bottom of the condo houses a small home run business - such as hairdresser, watch repair...

A new park with City Hall in the distance

some of the older condos in the area - before the towers came along

waiting for something perhaps a starbucks?

won't be a parking lot for long

the one in the middle was one of the first towers built in the 90's

phase 2 is getting underway

henderson place is the asian mall - its mostly empty though has been since it opened - its kinda cool inside but not many stores

now down by the river - new bridge is being constructed next to the old one - its the main hwy #1 bridge into Vancouver

looking souwth west surrey on the other side

weird shoes...

some kind of fungus

the only riverside park in coquitlam (at the moment)

the end

it's a great idea to show Coquitlam as this city has its share of beautiful parks and nice modern highrises. Photos are really nice, (whispering) only most of them appear partially or don't appear at all due to my computer's low in virtual space. I think it may help if you upload the pictures in installments. I really want to see the rest cos I know your photos often have interesting subjects.
thanks pal for the effort anyways.

I really want to live in Vancouver, it's such a beautiful and cosmopolitan city.

Looks very nice. Will the Evergreen line service areas that you've photographed in this thread? (i.e. within reasonable walking distance?)

yes the Evergreen line is about a couple of blocks walking in most of that area - the area is already served by the commuter West Coast Express Train which is and will be close to the skytrain station - the end station is about a block or two from most of the tower concentrated area

theres not many old buildings at all - i'll see what i can find - the old city hall looked like trailers to me it wasn't pretty and was demolished years ago to be replaced by some kind of housing - there was never a real downtown just strip malls - they moved the city hall to this central area - before it was in a residential area basically
