Brookside DVD Campaign

Hello There my names Lee, Hows it going? My first post on here.

We have been working on and off with the Campaign to get Merseyside soap Brookside's classic episodes released onto DVD's. We have now got over 4,300 Fan signatures. We also have an Official website up and running here:

www.brooksidefans.webs.com & www.twitter.com/BrooksideDVD

We will be getting ready to send the Petition as a (stage One Process) in the very near future to Phil Redmond, Lime Pictures & Channel 4.

We would love all members of The Sky scraper city to back us up what we are trying to do. Were the only Official 'Soap' Campaign running as far as i know & god its hard work. I only run this & do work on this when i can have time off work. But we have done really well up to now! Anyway please back us up & would be nice to sign the online Petition via the website. But if you was never a fan of it then thats fine.

We are currently in contact with Press Association for publicity & have been in contact with alot of the Cast lately who are showing their support.

We have also hear that the Close is going to be demolished, But there totally untrue. We have someone already in talks with English Heritage about this.

The state the close is now left in i wouldnt be suprised they collapse.

Thanks,

Lee Brady.

Brookside was shite and created a lot of the sterotypes we still have to deal with to this day.

Having said that Jimmy Corkhill was killer! A DVD of his lunactic ramblings would be epic.

That will translate to about 43 sales - and the companies know that. I know it isn't what you want to hear but I really wouldn't waste your time with this

I think one reason, but by no means the only one, why Liverpoolīs stock has risen over the last 10 years or so, is down to the fact that we no longer have any TV programmes set here. Itīs all very well complaining about Scouse sterotypes giving us an unfair image, when in fact the architypal Scouse stereotype was created by Lane, McGovern and Bleasdale. Personally, I would advocate a ban on any TV programmes set or filmed in Liverpool for another 20 years. They were, without exception, unremitting shite.

The problem with Brookie, Bread et al was that there wasn't anything else.

The lovely Carla Lane who has now returned to live in 'leafy south Liverpool' wrote a delightful piece of fluff with an occasional hard edge called 'Butterflies'. There wasn't any reason why this couldn't have been set in middle class Liverpool and thus show the city more in the round but it wasn't to be.

I have spoken to a few people who write for a living and they say that in order for a treatment to be commissioned it needs to tick certain boxes.

Guess which boxes Liverpool based drama series have to tick.
