Pure class. Where´s the sixth pic taken? Looks like something straight out of a Dickens novel.

Great! Some of those locations/buildings seem completely unfamiliar to me. But what about some captions or descriptions of what we see?

Very interesting. The only place I really recognised was the old coaching inn - The George? - where I once had a meal in the 1960's.

Unfortunately revealing the locations would spoil all the fun, however I can tell that these were taken in - City, Bloomsbury, Bermondsey, Southwark, Holborn, Smithfield, Westminster, Shadwell, Mornington Crescent, Shoreditch, Old Street, Clerkenwell, Woolwich, Charlton. Others were taken in museums, unis and shops - Twinings Shop, Kings College, Hunterian Museum — The Royal College of Surgeons of England, UCL, Bishopsgate Institute and Lloyds Bank.

That's right. This is one of the rare survivors of the Great Fire. I think it was built around 1505 or so.

These are excellent photographs.

The Great Fire didn't cross the river, so all buildings in Southwark survived. However, Southwark had it's own great fire a few years later where the George DID burn down. It was rebuilt in original style but the present building "only" dates back to 1676.

The other pub in El Grecos fantastic pictures is the Fox & Anchor in Chartershouse St, Smithfield, also well worth a visit, both for the beer and architecture

I think he was talking about St Johns Gate in Clerkenwell.

Thanks all.
