Buenos Aires: Montserrat District

Some random pics I took last week from the bus stop to my job. I took my camara with me for a party and I thought I could post in this sub-forum for once.

Reminds of Madrid.
Looks very modern and civilized, far from chaotic.

Franpunk you captured Buenos Aires very nicely in those photos.

Compared to other Latin American cities with the exception of Santiago not much. Argentina used to be compared with Australia and Canada back in the day until Peron and Menem sort of messed things up. They however were hit very hard by the 2001 economic meltdown and the 2009 recession which has caused some increase in crime.

By the way I have relatives that are currently living in Argentina so if anyone has any questions about Buenos Aires, feel free to ask.

According to the government's last figures 7,3% of the city population (2nd semester, 2009).

Here you have some sites in English with many useful info if you're planning moving to Buenos Aires

True but the crime rate is very low compared to most American countries. Argentina has a lower crime rate than the US and just slightly higher than Chile and Canada.

As for the 2009 recession, luckily it will be over for most countries this year.

Wasn't it Menem who pegged the Peso to the Dollar, which helped cause he 2001 economic collapse?

Nice photos. I think I hadn't seen a thread exclusively about that area in SCC before.
