So basically you guys are bragging how redicuously full your freeways, expressways or autobahns or whatever you call them are. Yay, I'm sure your quality of air is amazing, and I just thought you cared how high some generic skyscraper was. Go world, won't it be great in 2030?

In south america, probably the busiest road is Marginal in São Paulo, Brazil.

There are 350,000 vehicles daily.

so what is the busiest road in terms of vehicles per lane?

Hong Kong CHT carries over 120,000 vehicles with a 4 lane highway.

Yeah 120,000 vehicles on 2x2 lanes is about the highest you can get. It's usually only possible with low truck shares, 2x2 motorways / expressways get congested at more than 70,000 - 80,000 vehicles per day, so 120,000 is really extreme. There are only a handful of such examples.

Those figures are for the entire toll road, which means they cannot be compared to other roads.

What do u mean by "for the entire toll road" ??

That figure refers to the average daily traffic for one specific toll road (and not counting the non-motorway beside it).

Yes, but usually traffic volumes are expressed in sections of motorway (between two exits), not the entire toll road. Because a 10 km toll road likely has less total traffic than a 100 km toll road

Ahh, I see..

It is so hard to find such figures.

Yep, especially for toll roads it's almost impossible to find section-specific traffic counts. Most amounts quoted are from entire toll road lengths (number of transactions).

It would also be interesting to know, which road is the busiest in the world counting the entire length. It must be a long road, of course, but it also depends on the definition (road number, road name etc.).

Probably a long road that passes through many metropolitan areas. Roads like Interstate 10 or Interstate 95 in the United States.

'New' stats out for Highway 401, stating that it had an AADT of just under 450k between Weston Road and Highway 400 in 2008.

401 HWY 400 IC -N.YORK WESTON RD IC -N.YORK 1.5 442,900

Found here on page 42: http://www.raqsb.mto.gov.on.ca/techp...ADT%20Only.pdf

Still looking for a source that states it as the world's busiest, however.
