So sad indeed. Air Berlin had many good routes.

Lets hope many of the routes will be integrated into the eurowings network. But without proper competition prices will certainly go up.

EZY might take over 25 A320 from AB to operate mainly out of TXL - also on domestic German routes.

Yeah. Air Berlin even started new Transatlantic routes between Berlin and the US recently to expand its reach. And now, with it folding, I seriously wonder if Lufthansa will pick up some or all of the long-haul routes AB created to enhance Germany-US services. I saw recently that LH will restart Transatlantic services from Berlin to NYC, but I really want to see more flights by LH from both Berlin and Dusseldorf to places like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, and more.

Eurowings might add new long-haul routes from DUS.

As today is the last day of operation let's say thanks to the AB staff as per Wikipedia:

"As of October 2017, Air Berlin has not suffered an accident or incident resulting in the loss of life or an aircraft in over 39 years of operations."
