Photos from this afternoon

L9-El Prat Estaciˇ (under construction).

This station will be one of the main interchange points between lines L9 and R2.
It will greatly improve travel time for people working at the Zona Franca industrial estate and the area of the Congress Hall and Fair and coming from both the airport (T1 and T2 -line R2 north serves only T2) and the southern suburbs served by line R2 south (Sitges, Castelldefels, Vilanova, Calafell)...

Entrance from the street.
On the left we can┤t see El Prat de Llobregat railway station, for R2 trains.
Take a look at that mysterious lift on top. We don┤t know it┤s use:

L9/L10-Sagrera

Open since 2010.

The access is from the L5 southern entrance hall, so to get here from L1 or Rodalies you have to walk though the L5 platforms.

These platforms are bound to become part of L4 in the end, while L9/L10 should get new platforms in another area of the station, and the access would be from the main hall.

This is a deep station, you get there through some neverending escalators.
It┤s becoming busier and busier, since this is an interchange with metro lines L1, L5 (and also L4 in the future), and with Rodalies lines R3, and R4.

L9/L10. Inside a class 9000 train.

L9 and L10 are automatic and driverless, so you can see the tunnel from the would-be-driver point of view.
This could be modified anytime by creating a real isolated cabin. Class 9000 trains circulating in L2 and L4 do have cabins (those lines are not automatic, though).

L5-Sagrera

Open since 1959.

One of the busiest stations in the network, it gets busier and busier since the opening of L9, L10, other extensions of the metro, and in particular the new Rodalies station, connecting with Rodalies lines R3 and R4.

This station has now an island platform.
Before the opening of L9 and L10, and the opening of the Rodalies station, the configuration was much different, since it had two side platforms plus a central island platform.

L9/L10-Collblanc (under construction).

This station will be a very important interchange point.
It will be the provisory terminus for both L9 and L10, and that for some years.

Currently it is served by metro L5.
It already is busy, since this is the closest station to the Camp Nou (FC Barcelona football stadium, basketball, handball & hockey arena), and it serves two rather dense quarters.

Station entrance. On the right we see the current L5 station entrance.
On the left, the new entrance for L9, L10 and also L5. It will replace the current entrance, gaining a bit of room for pedestrians.

L9/L10-Gornal (working name, under construction).

"Gornal" may well be just a working name, since it is identical to another FGC station not far, but totally different and with no interchange at all to this one.

Gornal station will be where L9 and L10 will split, L9 going to the airport, and L10 to Zona Franca.

This sector is where works are the least advanced of the southern part of L9/L10.

The lift, boarded and unfinished:

L9 works, between El Prat Estaciˇ and Aeroport T1 stations.

These videos are from March, April and May 2013.
Works are much more advanced now, all the sector has catenary and rail now.

L2-Sagrada Familia

Open since 1995.

Interchange for L5. Busy station. Extremely touristy (watch out your stuff, there might be pickpockets).
Bizarrely, the platform for trains bound for Badalona Pompeu Fabra is wider than the platform for trains bound for Paral.lel. I ignore the reason.
