You know, the biggest setbacks in the history of Barcelona metro, all have come from poor or non existant planning. It is actually rather easy to build metro tunnels in Barcelona as the soil is loose and can easily be removed, even by hand (which is how the first 3 lines were built).

If the builders had spent double the effort during the planning phase of the various lines built in this city, they probably would have needed half the effort during the construction phase. This is even true for the newest line still under construction.

L9/L10

Definitive station names for the Zona UniversitÓria-Aeroport T1 section, which will temporarily be opened as "L9 south".

On the Spanish SSC forum we strongly disagree with the names chosen for the stations called "Parc Nou", "CŔntric" and "El Prat".
We believe that the appropiate names would be (in the same order as above) "Sant Cosme", "El Prat Centre" and "El Prat Estaciˇ" instead.

Does anyone know any updated info concerning the S1 line to Terrassa. It seems the short tunnel extension was completed a long time ago; however, no real news about when it might open.

Yes, I am sure available funding plays a big role.

Since that belongs in another thread (the one for suburban rail in the Barcelona urban area), I answer there.

Lucky you are, you avoid them.

Cuts for maintenance in August 2014:

-L2 will be cut between Passeig de GrÓcia and Clot stations from August 4 to August 24. Alternative routes by metro.

-L1 will be cut between Avinguda Carrilet and Hospital de Bellvitge stations from August 2 to August 29. Substitution bus.

I've run into a bit of trouble on trying to literally catch them all (the fleet) on L3: I've got the 3000 and 5000 series but no 2000s. Have they been renumbered? I've got till Thursday PM, maybe you could help me.

No, they haven┤t been renumbered at all, and as far as I know they run normally.
Maybe you were unlucky.

Hello,
I will be visiting Barcelona soon, what is the best solution for transport tickets? Hola BCN cards give access to all transport within Barcelona zone 1 including the train from the Airport? (El Prat-Passeig de Gracia at least where i have to change for a metro).
The difference with T-Dia is that T-Dia is for one day only and the Hola BCN start at 2 days onwards? Or there are more differences?
The validity when stamping a ticket 24h or until midnight of the same day (if with a T-Dia)? Is it necessary to stamp at each travel or change?

And finally, what are the best ways (and cheaper) to travel to Girona and Tarragona? Train, bus? Can i buy tickets at RENFE stations like Sants etc and go directly from Barcelona using the Rodalies? Or it's not the Rodalies but regular trains?

Regards,

Hola BCN! cards give access to all transport to and from the Airport because it is in Zone 1.

T-Dia is for one day only. Hola BCN! cards are valid from 2 to 5 days. Neither have limits on the number of journeys for the days it is valid for. It starts from the day you first validate it, and you will need to validate it for every journey you make.

I prefer railways to Girona even though it is not in my plan: by the Rodalies (the stopping service), it's up to 11.25 EUR per direction.

It looks as if the 2000s operate on weekdays only, but the state of it looks as if they are heading for withdrawal soon (and I know there are only six of these ever made).

Regards,
You cannot use Rodalies to reach Tarragona nor Gerona.

You have to buy a Regional, Regional Express or MD ticket.

Commuter trains don┤t get there.

Be sure that they won┤t be withdrawn, they┤re almost identical to class 2100.
But it won┤t be very long until class 2000 have their half-life renovation (and probably class 2100 too).

By the way, a number of class 9000 trains from L4 will be taken to L9 for its new southern extension (Collblanc-Aeroport T1).
Frequencies on L4 won┤t be altered, right now there┤s more rolling stock on L4 than it actually needs.

Oh, and it┤s not a rarity at all to see a class 2000 on L3, it┤s their line since they were taken away from L2.

@437.001:

Good to read that line 9 (and 10 for that matter), are -finally- getting closer to completion.

A few years ago I got interested in this very nice project.
Have been following ever since and I really appreciate your updates.

Just out of curiosity, are you A native Spanish or Catalan person?

Not that it makes any difference in the L9/L10 project, but the North-South subwayline in Amsterdam has been u/c since 2001 & has not even had any testrun.
Even though, the project in Barcelona had many setbacks it still had quite A speedy timeline compared to the extremely amateuristic approach in Holland towards A really small line (9,7Km)
