The new L9/10 is one of the most modern and beautiful metro line I've never seen!

Does anyone know the time of year that the Terrassa FGC line will open in 2011? I believe I will be in Barcelona in August and I would love to ride that line when I visit.

I'm afraid it will be delayed because of the crisis in Spain.

Well, I kinda doubt that - the line is almost complete. Systems work should be all that is left and funding should have been lined up and secured long ago.

Let me put it this way, assuming no significant problems, when is it expected to open.

So?
For instance: the metro line 9 to BCN airport is made, but there is no money to put the tracks, escalators, etc. Therefore the opening has been delayed more than 1 year: 2012-13.

Are you sure?
As far as I know, even if the tracks, escalators, etc. were installed right now, the trains couldn't use L9 to the Airport because there is no depot connected to this part of the line (Zona Universitria - Aeroport T1).

Actually, the trains of L9 will use the Zona Franca depot, which will be connected only to L10 and shared by both lines. Consequently, L9 won't open before L10 is ready. The main problem is that construction of L10 is suffering a delay because the TBM that now is digging the line had to stop for more than one year due to a problem with the soil, but luckily it has been solved and both L9 and L10 will open in 2012-2013

Here in Spain nothing is done in a hurry, the tender for the installation of technical systems and cladding and interrior installations of stations was awarded in February this year and it had a 17 months timespan so even if they started right away (say may-june) the opening will not happen before the end of 2011, perfectly timed for the 2012 elections (where have I seen that before ). Rails are installed right now so trains will probably run trials soon but without the stations you can not start the service.

I'm sure they are. Do you have any pictures though, allowing the rest of us not living in or near Barcelona to enjoy the stations, too?

Ever so often, I do a search online for news of the Terrassa extension, but I see nothing appear for results. Is anything being written in Barcelona for this project? And better yet, in English?

It is because nothing has been published online. According to a news article from January the 13th, works on the stations have now started and will finish i 15 months time (february-march 2012).

This include cladding of the stations which untill now have been empty concrete shells. Intallations of electrical equipments, elevators, escalators, vetilation, fire protection systems, etc.
