Thanks for sharing
What do most Londoners prefer? Harrods or Selfridges?

I read that Takashimaya is closing its NYC store in June

They actually prefer Harvey Nicks, followed by Selfridges if youre a Londoner, but Harrods if youre a tourist/ old and uber-rich. Selfridges is definitely more hip and younger than the old moneyed set of Harrods, whilst Harvey Nicks has the worlds best window displays, is all about fashion and labels, but atrractively expensive too.

Unfortunately, Hertie - the company that runned it - went into bankrupcy, so we'll have to see if it will be open in the future, too.

Please refer to first post.

This thread is for DEPARTMENT STORES ONLY, not SHOPPING MALLS

I acctually don't know what you're saying.

To reiterate what sky said that is a Mall, we look for deparptment stores. Not areas where there are other shops.

Great stuff! Is it related to the expressionist Amsterdam School in some way?

Marshall Field's - State Street, Chicago

The building itself is great, however after being acquired by Macy's it has lost quite a bit of cachet. Many of the designer in-store boutiques (Prada, Miu Miu, D&G, YSL, etc.) and some of the smaller perks like special black cabs painted green to deliver goods around the Loop are now gone.
