The exterior of Selfridges Birmingham is of course controversial but believe me the interior is absolutely great. Of the other stores in this thread I am most impressed with the one in The Hague. I liked Marshall Field, the interior reminded me of Harrod's.

I personally find the exterior amazing. It's such a pleasant contrast to the rest of central Birmingham and has on it's own created an international interest in that city. Living here in Frankfurt I know a few people that now have "heard" of Birmingham and what they know is that department store. A couple has even gone to visit because of that. Without the Selfridges, Birmingham would be almost unknown.

I was looking at this thread yesterday and wishing I had photos of Bergdorf Goodman, and Oglivy's! Thanks for posting them, guys! Both are really beautiful department stores.

Ah well, I was actually referring to Au Printemps at Boulevard Haussmann, which is also shown in the above post.

I know you speak French (just like so many Germans I've seen/know), BUT:
We don't say "Au Printemps" (then, why not : "Aux Grands Magasins du Printemps") ![]() It's LE Printemps (just like the season ) or LE Printemps Haussmann (when it's about the original one) !!!!!
