hmm I think the first and foremost priority of every indian city (not just delhi) is to provide 24 hour water and electricity and sanitation (toilets proper) to all parts of the city

Pavements etc come later

Absolutely.

Excuse me i'm a bit out of touch; doesn't delhi provide this to most of the city already ?

I thought the scarcity of water is the reason for people not getting 24/7 water.

no

its mostly due to horrible distribution system our cities have.

The flow of the yamuna even in drought is enough for there to be 24 hours of water in Delhi. Problem is the pipe network has too many leaks and is inefficient leading to 4-6 hours of water for the whole city. (some areas get 24 hours and some (like slums) get 1-2 hours.)

and you cant just pump more water out of the yamuna to compensate for the bad pipes etc cause its an open sewer like the mithi in mumbai. So water needs to be heavily purified before it can be consumed.

It's both. Scarcity and leakage. Haryana often stops Delhi's share of water and SC has to intervene many times. Same thing with UP. Delhi govt spent hundreds of crores on Sonia vihar water treatment plant but UP didn't released its share of Ganga water.

and dust. Dust is the main problem in that area. It multiplies the heat there.

That's the same story with so many people. I have read many times in news papers that HUDA "tricked" residents of Delhi (esp. South Delhi) to settle in Gurgaon and promised a lot of things. Now all those people feel cheated.

Whatever private investment Gurgaon attracts, it will still never be on par with Delhi (whether it's transport or law and order or other things) because Delhi is a city state while Gurgaon is a part of larger state which has other priorities, besides being inefficient too.

in comparison of transportation MMR(mumbai) score far ahead.....than delhi(NCR).....in Mumbai if I want go from one end to other....locals are there....virtually everywhere in MMR.... with only one issue of over crowding...(peak hours).... I remembered I wanted to go my Noida office....from ggn....i took private cab,,as the bus freq from ggn shankar chawk to delhi was very very low.... i cant get into bus ....due to extremely overcrowded.... till motibaugh flyover....then i took blue line bus which goes till noida sector 52...(took more than 1.5hr)...after traveling in blue line I decided from there onwards...if my company ask me to come that office i will resign.... hopefully my manager understood this...n never asked me to go....back noida.....

another experience... i took last metro from rajiv chauwk....to sector 9 dwarka ...i reached around 11.45 pm..... guess what....there is only one auto(no bus service)....who asked me to pay 600 for ggn....then i called quick cab... which took almost half money ....this kinda situation never happened with me in MMR....BEST/TMT/NMMT/KDMT goes everywhere...

I believe that transportation is the only issue causing more n more car in NCR...almost 6 million cars.... my friends who dont have own home...but have cars... in Mumbai is almost reverse....people there first buy home.....then cars.....well this is my experience.... possibly not true for others..
