Though bus service is absent in almost all parts of Gurgaon. It's only these 2 roads which have bus service and that too from DTC and not any Gurgaon's local buses. Quote:
Yesterday I had to go from IIT to Gurgaon and asked many auto-rickshaws but none of them was willing to cross Delhi border (maybe something to do with permits). I had to book a Meru cab and it cost me double at Rs. 400 ![]() Thankfully, there is no such inter-city thing in metro. It crosses state borders as if it is crossing some random street. No extra charge for crossing border ![]() Lack ? There are thousands of radio cabs in NCR. Problem is that you need special permits for plying between cities (which means crossing state borders).

Radio taxi is still a new concept in India and is catching up. Every time I see a particular company adding hundreds of cabs to its fleet in Delhi and NCR cities. I hope they will be very popular in coming years. But I do not have any hopes for autos. They need to go.

An auto with permit + hafta + etc. costs around 4 lakh. An Alto without these black money and mafia transactions will be equally expensive. So why not go for a car instead of looking for Auto mafia.

I read in newspaper that actual cost of an auto-rickshaw is 1.5 lakh but with these things, it becomes 4 lakh. A cheaper car can be a better option and maybe more fuel-efficient (running on CNG). If there is some extra maintenance cost, then it can be added to fare but that won't be that much high.

since it is a new and developing city, they should work on decent modes of public transportation ahead of time. be it monorail, metro, brts or anything else.
also they should make stringent rules for public behavior and various infrastructure and public law when they still have time. Otherwise in few years it will look just like any other Indian city with tall buildings.

running on CNG is might be better in delhi as....in mumbai....i saw....queue more than 2-3km--- in Thane I saw myself... )....to refill..... but it not permanent...it can be handle.....I agree with u...abhi....on taxi instead of auto.....even i heard some time back...in Mumbai...govt stopped....new licence for auto....n givin only who has new taxi...like that...
but this will take decades.....to happen...in metro like mumbai/delhi....then just think of rest india,,,, |

Regarding removal of autos, it has more to do with political lobbying and vote bank rather than actual economic situation.

This slum just keeps growing and growing
why slum in capital city ??
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...ow/5241272.cms NEW DELHI: How much would more than an acre of prime land right in the heart of posh South Delhi come for? Rs 200 crore-odd, did you say? Wrong. It comes for free provided you have some vote-hungry politicians, and some policemen and DDA officials willing to look the other way -- for a modest sum, of course. Residents claim Rs 1,000-1,200 per month is all it takes to persuade cops and DDA officials to turn a blind eye. Vasant Vihar Coolie Camp, which has come up on more than an acre of DDA land on Nelson Mandela Marg, is a model slum in many ways. Residents have access to most civic amenities, almost everybody got identity cards before the last Assembly elections, the small rooms are stuffed with furniture, including various electric appliances and many of them have thriving businesses. There is a tyre shop, a kabaadiwala and several tea shops along the road that do brisk business thanks to the taxi-stand nearby.

Besides, its a fairly small cluster of slums and its rather difficult to make delhi 100% slum free but the good thing is that all slum clusters in delhi are relativly small in sixe and located nowhere even close to the heart of the city where they can become an embarresment to the city. They are mostly on outskirts or besides railway lines but nothing alarming. Every city has some poor areas and Delhi is no different, the slum situation is not nearly as bad and its made to be occasionally. |

see Kuwar that is exactly what i was trying to explain you dost....!!!very well explained Zenith...thanks mate... he's right, if there are any slums in delhi they are very very small in size and are present with basic amenities...and most of the slums are located on the outskirts of delhi...which are basically out of delhi..i mean its on that side of border like east delhi border and badarpur border.....you dont find many slums inside main delhi area....and by no means main delhi area is small....its double the size of mumbai... |
