I've never thought of London as a skyscraper city, but that may change in the coming years. London's skyline certainly is beefing up.

It takes some fighting here though, as you can imagine... London is not an easy place for Skyscrapers for many reasons.. like being a beautiful historic ancient city with very strict view/height restrictions.

Also being built on softer ground than places like HK or NY.. it takes infinitely more complex design work and architecture to make tall buildings strong and sturdy as foundations have to be very deep.

Clusters are very much the order of the day and are kept at a good distance from 1000 year old areas, like the Docklands had to be made as a "Skyscraper zone".

The Shard (London and the UK's first Supertall), currently under construction is soon to take over Canada Tower as the UK's tallest structure which has been the tallest since 1991.. when finished at around 310m it will be the European Unions tallest building too.

The Shard will be taller than any building in Canada as well. That's something I didn't think I'd ever see happen.

If the Citygate Ecotower vision ever comes to be.. at 460m would be quite large.

Although, I would never want them to go over the top with these buildings in London.

If it imposes on the cities "natural beauty" I would not really support it. There has to be a limit.

The central city airport makes things tough too.

Never knew that the Shard would be taller than any Canadian scraper! I love Canada, wonderful place, wonderful people, same Queen. :P

I feel that way about most cities. Buildings need to work with their surroundings. In Toronto, the CN Tower dominates despite Toronto having one of the biggest skylines around. The skyline is still 'growing' up to the CN Tower some 35 years after it was built.

Built in 1975, First Canadian Place still stands as Canada's tallest building. It's 298 m to the roof and 355 m including the antenna. When built, it was the 8th tallest in the world and the tallest building outside of New York or Chicago. How times change!

I think the antenna is cheating, so the Shard will be taller than FCP.

Nnot sure if you have included One Shenton Way for Singapore.. Published height (believe it is for the taller building) is 220m .. See attached website : http://200.124.202.19/ott/ott.html

PS: As this is not a direct link, you need to select project.. go to location.. select Singapore..Select 1 Shenton Residence,

the building height can be found on the RHS of the page.

Looks like One Corporate Centre, GT, St. Francis 1 & 2, and Lorenzo all have a roof height below 200 m. This is a roof height list! The Philippines is still at 7, not 12.
