A new Tram - how I wished the political parties and policemen of Bengal stopped encouraging ugly encroachments of public spaces by vendors. The whole of the maidan area bus terminus is such a big mess for decades.

If you see more closely there's a LED screen displaying 36 route number which is visible only to itself

They seriously should put a broader LED board there.

Looks good, all right. But they could've changed that number board too.

This tram car looks like Frankfurt or Hydelberg tram car. They are very high speed and have dedicated rail line. Is that possible in CCU.

Yes its much better than the earlier ones. But why do they still make them as two separate cabs. Can't they integrate the two using nice flexible vestibules. It will free movement of passengers between the two cabs. The flexible shutter kind of thing that they have between the cabs looks very amature.

The best modern trams that I can recollect is the Randstad Rail Tram of Den Haag Netherlands. But I guess thats asking for too much

Originally there were two 'classes' - first and second. Not sure if they have the same concept carried over in the new trams.

Also this tram doesn't look like the earlier 'new' look trams. It looks more professional. I wonder which company built it.

Volvo looks cool. Hope they start displaying route numbers soon instead of displaying the manufacturer's name.
