Modon has nothing much to do here. His boss is following leftist ideology of not increasing the fares much and he has to follow it.

With all the heaps of scorn on the Transport Minister, on balance, he is not doing a bad job. The instances of taxi refusals has come down, Autos are less unruly than before, and he does not make tall claims like some of the other ministers. The Bus fares - he can not take a decision and he has declared that as well.

not only modon, infact all the netas...(union leaders gulo k mathae chorie rekheche)...b it auto, taxi or bus...they think that they are the boss...whatever they wish they can do..coz no one in TMC has the guts to work in favor of general people..

Also, the bus passengers are equally responsible..if they can't afford to pay 2 bucks extra, they should immediately pack their bags and go to villages and settle there..!!!

It seems people in WB have a habbit of "foron kata" in every work...

The hue and cry about Rs. 2 increase in bus fares is typical Bengali drama. They will pay 5-10 rupees more in autos and won't utter a word. The percentage of these people have come down in recent times, people are willing to pay little more for fast, safe and comfortable ride.

Govt. is making so much drama to increase fares, on the other hand it has bowed before the pressure from corporate houses to run new JNNURM buses at the fares which companies think it should be.

The Karunamoyee Bus Terminus is the most busy bus exchange of Salt Lake. Not only local buses but also long distance ones commence their journeys from here. However, the area is quite dialidated and needs special repairs and renovation. From UD Department, we have just have got a technical plan and estimate prepared for this. The estimated amount is just over Rs 2 crores. I will now send it for financial sanction, make budget provisions and then ask Chief Engineering Advisor (UD) to call for tenders. These may take a little time but I hope we can start the work by this financial year.

They need to work on shifting or organising the entire babughat,shadid minar bus terminus es.But then the problem is there not too many options to for a convenient central location for a bus stand either.

But why do you need a bus stand .... the buses can just stop for few mins and then can wait at a suburban location. This is already the norm at Sealdah station (where there is used to be a bus stand) but now none .... buses just come, wait for few mins and then depart.
