Longgang line is operated by Metro Line 3 Operation Company
Longhua line is operated by MTR(Shenzhen)
otherlines are operated by Shenzhen Metro Operation Cooperation

ML3 said it was for security reason.

SZ reducing Metro impacts on Huaqiangbei businesses

Pedestrians walk past a billboard announcing new arrangements for bus routes yesterday in Futian District. The section of Huaqiang Road North between Hongli Road and Shennan Boulevard will be closed for Metro work, starting today.THE project contractor for the future Metro Line 7 is taking significant measures to keep construction fences around the future Huaqiangbei Metro station away from retail businesses along Huaqiang Road North, city officials said.
Starting today, the 930-meter section of Huaqiang Road North between Hongli Road and Shennan Boulevard will be closed for 33 months for the Metro project.
To ensure the flow of pedestrians and products, construction fences will be 10 meters away from shops during the project’s first phase, which will last 11 months. The fences will be pushed back an additional 2-4 meters during the remaining 22 months and pedestrian space will return to normal at the end of 2015, according to the contractor.
Huaqiangbei Subdistrict Office also is implementing special supportive measures by allowing businesses along affected roads to put printed ads on construction fences to attract consumers. The ads can be about 3 meters in height.
The bus routes along the road, about 30 in total, will be shifted to the nearby Huafa Road North and Huafu Road.
The city will arrange 150 traffic aids to guide traffic in the area during the project. Huaqiangbei is one of the busiest business areas in the city, with a flow of about 500,000 people a day. Half of those people take buses to the area and 40 percent take Metro trains.
Cai Zhuanwan, head of the subdistrict office, said Huaqiangbei’s business area will be expanded from the current 460,000 square meters to 2 million square meters after the underground and Metro projects are completed.
Huaqiangbei Subdistrict Office will meet with business representatives every month to discuss and solve problems that arise from the Metro projects.
To reduce dust and noise pollution, construction-related transportation will be conducted at night and some work involving loud noises will be done within enclosed factory houses. Construction vehicles will be washed before they’re allowed on the road.

From what I can tell Shenzhen does a lot of good to enhance their community. Very friendly place.

Thanks for the link cfredo. This is not only a great idea for commuting but for local business as well. I also love that this tram has a dedicated right of way so it doesn't have to deal with road traffic.

City to start Phase 4 Metro construction

SHENZHEN transit workers will start construction of Phase 4 of the city’s Metro expansion plan this year, officials from Shenzhen’s rail construction office said Monday.
Officials didn’t give details of the plan, but previous reports said Phase 4 likely includes future Metro lines 12-16.
The 36.6-km Metro Line 12 will link Longgang District’s sports center, CBD and eastern new town with Longgang Station on the Shenzhen-Xiamen High-Speed Railway and with Metro Line 14.
Line 14 will be an express line linking Futian District with Kengzi in the city’s northeast. It will be the only line linking all of Longgang with Futian’s CBD. Rail authorities have said millions of people will benefit from the line.
The future Line 16 also will be in Longgang, connecting Longgang’s CBD with Futian’s.
The length of the city’s Metro system will reach 350 kilometers in 2016 and carry 40 percent of the city’s public transit passengers, officials said.
Shenzhen Metro currently carries about 2.1 million passengers a day, 22 percent of the city’s total public transport users. The city invested 20 billion yuan (US$3.17 billion) in Metro projects last year.

Don't they mean phase 4 advance planning or something? They just started phase 3 construction but if that is true my god Shenzhen's network will explode in size by 2017.

So once the Phase 3 is completed the total span will reach 350km? And what's the span once they open the Phase 4?

Metro work to shift Shennan Boulevard

Han Ximin
[email protected]

THE section of Shennan Boulevard between Nonglin Road and Xiangmihu Road will be moved northward to allow construction of Chegongmiao Metro Station on Shenzhen Metro’s future Line 11.
Workers are preparing for the shift by relocating trees and pipelines and flattening the divider in the middle of the road, Shenzhen Metro Co. said yesterday. Preparation work will continue for three months.
Shennan Boulevard will remain two-way with a total of 10 lanes, but vehicle speeds could be slowed because the shift will add curves to the road. Major construction work for the project is expected to take 30 months.
Chengongmiao Metro Station has a construction area of 80,000 square meters. Four Metro lines will intersect at the station, which is expected to be the largest Metro hub in the city and help 250,000 area residents commute when it’s completed.
According to the project contractor, the construction of Metro Line 11 will be fully developed this year. The line’s major stations will include Chegongmiao, Futian, Qianhaiwan and Airport North.
The city spent 2 billion yuan (US$319 million) on construction of Metro Line 11 last year. About 5.7 billion yuan has been budgeted for 2013, with work accounting for 520 million yuan already completed.
In another development, more than 9,900 trees will be relocated for construction of the future Metro Line 9. Eighty percent of the trees have already been relocated and 90 percent of the relocated trees have survived, Shenzhen Metro Co. said.
Most of the relocated trees will not be moved back to their original locations after the Metro project is finished. Bidding will be conducted for contractors to replant areas affected by the Metro project.
