Ghent, a city to live in

Ghent is one of 4 big Belgian cities, I saw in February (the other are: Brussels, Antwerp and Bruges). I like the city very much because it is a mixture between lovely but sleepy Bruges and active but not so nicely located Antwerp. Ghent has plenty of canals, like in Bruges, but has a climate of a bigger city. I assume it would be nice to live in, while Bruges is better for someone, who wants to rest a little bit.

Let's begin:

Delicious meal at 2 A.M.

Tram on narrow street

My favourite type of street

Like a postcard

Beautiful!

Notice the tiny rowhouse!

Small passage

There are underground car parks under squares like this one

this is one charming medieval city.
I like that area with a concentration of spires, staples and towers.

Good one! I was gonna comment that they're doing a great job keeping cars off the streets.

Modern rowhouse under construction on the one of market square's corners.

Street toilets are common also in the Netherlands

Narrow passage

It would be easy to jump over the street

Intercom

Modern building

Pick one

There are few things more interesting than buidlings rising directly from the canal

water underground canal

Supply to the Opera

Bike park in front of the main railway station

I had the joy to study in this city for 3 years and it is a brilliant city to live in.

It is beautiful, lively and the mindset is very, very tolerant.

In my opinion it is the perfect city to live in because it is not too big, too expensive and it has all the facilities a city should have. On top of that it´s only 30 mins away from Brussels, 40 mins from Antwerp and 25 mins from Bruges.
