Aerolineas Argentinas Launches an In-Flight Wireless Revolution with Panasonic Avionics

Aerolineas Argentinas, the national airline of Argentina, will revolutionize air travel for its customers as the first Latin American airline to introduce wireless in-flight entertainment, provided by Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic) through its eXW wireless in-flight entertainment (IFE) system.

Passengers will be able to connect to content on board the aircraft via their Wi-Fi-enabled laptops, tablets, smartphones or other devices and enjoy movies, music and in-flight service such as ordering meals.

The system is being linefit on eight Boeing 737-800s being delivered to Aerolineas Argentinas from later this year. It will be deployed on domestic flights and mid-range destinations such as those in Brazil, Peru and Chile.

Aerolineas Argentinas (AR, Buenos Aires Ezeiza) will operate Trelew's maiden international service on October 18 when it launches a weekly São Paulo Guarulhos flight. According to ch-aviation schedule data, the B737-700 service will operate until December 13.

Located on the Atlantic coast in Argentine Patagonia, Trelew was founded in 1886 by Welsh settlers and today is an important commercial and industrial centre specializing in wool processing.

At present, the airport is connected to twelve other local destinations by Aerolineas Argentinas, LADE - Lineas Aéreas del Estado (5U, Buenos Aires Aeroparque) and Sol Líneas Aéreas (8R, Rosario, SF).
