Yup. Regina Pacis High School. I am in Melbourne now.
Btw. The deers (how to say 'rusa' in english?) is still exist and roaming freely in the palace ground. Jakarta Governor Sutiyoso took some of them and put them in Monas Monument ground. yah, old time indonesia is beautiful. there's more pics on the net if you googling. |

LOL glenelg.
i never realized that. they scrap the tram because in favour of cars and buses. the street is not just wide enough. i think it was the US goverment that push this idea to countries. i still can see the tram line during the 80s in Jakarta. but, that is a wrong move though. even sydney regret they scrap their tram. now they have a short line from central station to casino. tram is clean and eco friendly (as long as they're not jamming cars). i love tram. always use it here. |

yeah they are similar
)).the difference is Melbourne Class W City Circle tram have two side doors, whilst indo tram have only one in the center. and i think the gauge also different. maybe taman mini or ambarawa train museum have this tram preserved. if i am not mistaken, melbourne style tram do exist in semarang or surabaya before. cant remember. so far in oz i have seen double traction tram only in adelaide. but melbourne new siemens tram have 5 (!!!!!) section instead of 3. |

Soekarno scrapped the trams during the Demokrasi Terpimpin. In 1955, the Bataviasch Verkeers Maatschappij handed over the trams to the city government. Soekarno considered it 'unmodern' and instead wanted highways with busses to replace them.
The Batavia gate was destroyed by the Japanese during World War Two. Other prominent buildings, such as Harmonie (a club for Dutch), Wilhelmina Park (Where a statue of Athena stood, symbolizing Batavia) was also destroyed to make way for the Istiqlal Mosque. Soekarno wanted whole district razed so he can indulge in his pathetic 'modernization' movement of Djakarta. During his reign of Demokrasi Terpimpin, he build or planned to build among other things: Senayan Sport Complex (financed mostly from Soviet help), Hotel Indonesia (14 floors) and Wisma Nusantara (29 floors) which where financed from war reparation money with Japan, Monumen Nasional, Istiqlal Mosque and had wanted to build a very tall tower (Menara Bung Karno) and the largest theater in the world. He had a vision of Jakarta that would have made it look very similar to any Communist capitals, complete with huge, ugly, modernist, commie blocks.
