Yeah, I was talking about this mall near my home and some more adjoining it. Seems like City centre Rohini (next to D mall) has also opened and the third mall next to them will open shortly.
None of them are mentioned in this list, even though they are located at a place which is going to be one of the major business districts of Delhi within few years. Metro is already there. Then there is a big amusement park, very popular Metro walk mall, some malls u/c and many more malls slated to come up. 5 star hotels are already coming up. I saw two multistory buildings under construction there. One of them is a 5 star hotel, second one also seems to be a 5 star hotel.

That was not the biggest mall of the world but biggest mall of India. However it was among top 10 of the world at that time.

Someone working with the real estate consultancy firm CB Richard Ellis told me that DLF is shifting its ambitious 'Mall of India' project from gurgaon to noida. I checked DLF's website and it does list 'mall of india' as a retail project "under planning and development" in noida. Apparently, they have renamed DLF Townsquare, Noida as "Mall of India". Does anyone have any other info?

Appu ghar (now closed) and Fun n Food village were operational since decades. New ones are now sprouting up - one in Rohini, one in Noida near Great India Place (both by same developer - Unitech). A new am park will come in Gurgaon (6 developers are collectively doing that project).

Not to hurt anyone's feelings. But no sane builder would build such a big mall when there is 25% vacany rates even after the rates are halved in the satellite towns of Delhi.
It is true for all the large proposed mallsacross India, including those of Phoenix in Mumbai, Pune, Chennai and Bangalore. |

i dont know when the mall growing population will stop in delhi??? almost all the hundred malls are runing in loss...emporio runs empty and so the premonade...but still 2 more are coming up adjesent to them...ambiance looks as deserted as desert but still mall of india is planed near to it....all the malls except citywalk looks crying for customers...instead of just malls builders should plan other entertainment options...NCR still dosnt have a basic decent amusement park...they can take some lessons from wonderla and IFC in Bangalore...

Check out the status of the world's largest shopping mall in Beijing which is still 99% vacant even after 4 years of opening.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worl...ng-centre.html Atleast , the Indian malls are not in such bad shape. Average vacancy is only about 20% nation wide. An overwhelming majority of Malls (at least in the metros)have the deadly combo of a Multiplex + Food court+ Numerous restaurants + Hyper Market/Departmental store (like Big Bazaar , Spencers , Reliance Mart, Shopper's stop , Pantaloons, Lifestyle, Westside Globus etc). With such a combo , a mall cannot fail . It is only the badly planned malls vis-a-vis location, small size and poor client mix which are in trouble. Status of some of the Malls in NCR which I have visited of late: Great India Place, Noida - Best mall in Noida and always buzzing and esp heaving during weekends Centrestage Mall , Noida - Once the most happening mall in NCR, is quieter now but still busy with a Multiplex, Westside , loads of good eating options and a rocking night club. Spice mall - Very popular due to a Multiplex + Haldiram + Huge FABINDIA MGF Metropolitan Mall , Gurgaon - Remains Gurgaon's most popular mall still.Always buzzing even on weekdays. Has a great Multiplex and an amazing Food court. Sahara Mall , Gurgaon - Always crowded due to Big Bazaar. Ambience Mall , Gurgaon - It is currently the most happening mall in Gurgaon and is far from deserted. Maybe be size of the mall and big size of shops gives the impression of it being relatively quiet. DLF Emporio - This was not created for Aam Janta but the cream of society and only the very rich, High fashion and Page 3 people shop there. If a shop manages to sell a couple of items a month , they are profitable !! Just visit any of the washrooms. Everything is golden and super posh and an attendant gives you rolled hand towels to dry your hands !!! I forgot to pee as I was admiring the walls ,basins and urinals. DLF Promenade - This has caught on very nicely in the last 6 months with most of the shops opening. Ansal Plaza , Khel gaon marg- Always Busy due to location. EDM, Ghaziabad - Busy even during daytime on weekdays. Big Bazaar and PVR are a magnet. Pacific Mall, Ghaziabad - Always busy due to good location( excellent catchment area of Kaushambi/Vaishali) + multiplex+excellent food court +Spencers hypermart Shipra Mall , Indirapuram - One of the best malls in NCR architecturally. Has excellent mix of shops, Food Bazaar, JAM multiplex etc. People are spilling out on the weekends. Select City walk - No need for comments . It's the best. Malls in Shivaji District Centre , Rajouri Garden - There are 5 malls here and each of them are buzzing in the evenings ( esp City Center and WestGate). Mall hopping is popular here esp amongst the rich youngsters of West Delhi. |
