DLF Emporio in Delhi , The Collection in Bangalore and PALLADIUM in Mumbai -

These niche malls are targetting the rich indians who previously shopped abroad and played a major part in the rousing success of Hong Kong / Singapore/Dubai as shopping destinations. There is no reason why they should not patronize similar outlets in their own country. As long as there are rich people in our big metros , there will be a place for HIGH STREET shopping.

I dont deny that Indians shop abroad, but saying that they contributed a lot to the success of those brands in those places is way off the mark. Those rich Indians will still continue to shop abroad, as it is as accesible (or even better) than those in india. In the Mumbai context, a person in Juhu would find it comfortable to shop abroad rather than driving all the way to Palladium. Moreover, the collection in Indian stores is very niche and small.

The Indian luxury market is pretty dicey. The target segment is pretty small and niche, though real estate prices in Indian cities are among the highest in the world. I think , these brands will try to work its pricing strategy to widen its customer base.

The Collective (with all true luxury brands) is yet to expand into Delhi even after a year in Mumbai and Bangalore. It says something about its success.

does that different class, those parties or dj nights help LV or DIOR....whatever few public ambi has,95% visits only one floor, thats where food court, haldiram, pvr, and other restuarents are and others are found in blu-o...which is another overhyped venue...most of the shops remain free from customers...i think 'people' store is also closed...whenever i went for shopping there i never find customers in any stores on weekdays..on weekends also, nothing's rocking business wise...people do come but just to eat, play, watch movie and go... i dont know...but setting shop in a mall that too in delhi is no more a lucretive option....All the malls in NCR looks same with same kind of brands and concept...

the weather and power cuts in delhi n gurgoan are also a factor.. many people do visit malls just to avoid heat strokes in an AC ambiance...they just add to the crowd volume and not the sales...

And I just checked the strore Directory of DLF Emporio - 90% of the stores are of Indian designers. Only 3 -4 global luxury brands are there.

Wrong information.

Buddy, unlike you I don't have to check the store directory since I have gone there several times myself . Practically all the Luxury brands existing in the world have shops here . First two Floors are completely foreign Brands, Second/Third floors are Indian designers. Store break up is 50:50 Foreign:Indian and areawise 80:20 Foreign:Indian.

Check here for proof if you disbelieve me : http://www.dlfemporio.com/dlf/wcm/co...eft+Link/HOME/

Just to name a few Foreign Luxury brands who have stores in Emporio:

Giorgio Armani, Armani Xchange , Emporio Armani (Hope you understand the difference between these stores),Versace, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Hugo Boss, Burberry, Jimmy Choo, Ferragamo, Canali ,Dior, DKNY, Fendi, Ermenegildo Zegna, Alfred Dunhill, TOD, Corneliani,Bottega Veneta,Vacheron Constantin, Just Cavalli, Cartier, Chopard,Piaget.

THERE ARE 40 OF THE TOPMOST FOREIGN LUXURY BRANDS in DLF EMPORIO not 3-4 .

doesn't agree...If u cum to these western countries u will see it urself...Currently in melb i see all the brands have nothing.....and yea it all depends on culture too..The clothes here girls wear can't be wore by girls in India...So u cant say we have small amount of fashion or this and dat...Doesn't make sense...Rather we shud have big amount of fashion if go by ur logic..Cos we have more people means more rich...And they are not idiot to buy just some pair of shoes will go all the way to london..

i think the concept of strip mall should return in coming times...like south ex but in a well organised manner...i keep shuttling between bangalore n delhi so i manage to know whats up in both places...apart from regular box shaped mall a new concept is under construction in bangalore...its called neo mall...its an open air market type with stunning landscaping, water cascades,trees..etc...with all the amenites of that of a mall...single floored...no ac..since its pvt. ..it will be neat n mantained...it will be equipped with 6 screen multiplex, anchor stores, night clubs and most facinating 42 lane bowling arena...since bangalore weather rocks round the year, this place seems to create a trend...take its as pvr priya complex in advanced n new form...

Smile West End Mall (Next to District Center, Hilton Hotel, Janakpuri West Metro station), Janakpuri, (West) Delhi

It's huge from inside ...
Very few shops and offices, less than 10% I believe, have started and renovation work in most shop outlets is on...

It's not nearly as beautiful as the 'D Mall' at Netaji Subhash Place, and since the metro line is right next to it, the front look is hardly visible in it's totality, but after most of the space is booked/taken up I think it's corridors will be a nice sight.

Render of the look -

Gives an amazing view of the Hilton Hotel across the road:

Delhi Metro line looks far more amazing than this pic from the 12th floor of this mall...

Janakpuri District Center - the dilapidated and the refreshed:

That's freaking tall. Never seen a mall with so many levels. Shops at upper floors will command a very low rent. Nobody would like to travel up and down so much for shopping.

I think all the shops will be on the lower floors and the restaurants and offices on the top.

Yes, it looks like that..

Escalators are there for six levels, which could be housing retail.

In the perspective also you can see that shops are shown in about 4-5 levels, giving visibility and the rest fully glazed up.
