Please don't pollute this forum. You only signed up on this site to come troll here.
It’s called double standards

Ethiopia complains about an agreement written by the British. Yet they control the Ogaden which was given to them by the British,

Did Ethiopia agree on the Nile agreement? No
Did the Ogaden people agree on joining Ethiopia? No

Ethiopia always goes to the Nile conferences and complains that this 1900 agreement should exist in this modern era. Egypt replies than we must return to border pre-existing 1900s

The Nile agreement is about principle. It seems Ethiopia picks and choose what it likes but they cannot do that. There has to be a trade-off

Ogaden issue needs its own discussion it is not a way to denied Egypt's use of Nile. Apples and Oranges, you think the situation in Ogaden is unfair, thats fine join your friends and do something about it. I personally do not give a rats ass about Ogaden, I don't care if it with us or if it becomes independent. It doesn't add any value to me, my families or the country for that matter. What you are doing here is creating a diversion from what is being discussed, i.e NILE.
So, stop with all the usual 'talking points', you remind me Sara Palin.

Doesn’t matter if you care, but your government does. The used the Ogaden as an example for Ethiopia weak and pathetic double standards

I still do not understand what Ogaden has to do with the Nile Basin Initiative. If all you are doing is finding ways to bash my country, well I can't stop you, the internet is open for anyone. But,no one here cares about Ogaden, it is not in our top 10 to do things. so as I said, if you want Ogaden fight for it, anyway you can. Good luck.

The Nomadic Warrior
How much Zurba Qat did you chew?
This thread is about the Nile. It has nothing to do with the Ogaden desert / or is not about the river Wabi Shbelle.....

What does this have to do with the Ogaden? Please stick to the subject! And we all know you are probably kitayabi or some egyptian. Dont try to hide your self behind another screen name, we know who you are.

you think I care enough to make another account,, now I've been fair in my arguments and generally respectful to Ethiopia out of respect for Ethiopia but make this any more personal and I won't hold my tongue.

When Ogaden was made part of Ethiopia there was no country called Somalia, It was an administered Region that belonged to the British. When the Nile waters were given to Egypt, the waters did not belong to the British, It was part Ethiopia's, a proud and Independent Nation. You can't give away what you don't own. The two issues are not related.

Who said anything about Somalia?

This is about the Ogaden people. Ogaden people don’t want to be part of Ethiopia but were force into union by the British. The Nile agreement was drawn up by the British and Ethiopians didn't agree. It's the exact same thing. People futures were chosen by the British while they were not involved.

Ethiopains don't agree on the Nile Agreement
Ogadens don't agree with their forced union

Exact same thing. Ogaden didn't belong to Ethiopia at all

OK then, there was no country called the Ogaden then and now, so international law doesn't recognize it. Same thing as there is no country called Somali Land. The British had all legal rights to give away whatever was theirs ok, that is what the law says. So they were in their legal rights to give away Eritrea and Oganden and then make Somalia which is made with the Italian and British part, an independent country. Again in their legal rights. When Eritrea seceded that was done in agreement with the brain dead TPLF Ethiopian rebel group, who also gave away the seaport as well. Ethiopia was in its legal right to either get the sea port or refuse secession because there was no country called Eritrea at the time.

The Nile did not belong to the British, it belonged to Ethiopia which was an independent country which was a member of the league of nations.

That was completely uncalled for. Reported. Guys, please, let's be civil. All of us.

Thanks for the support Simfan, I just didn't appreciate the personal attacks particularly since I and most of the Egyptians who replyed to this thread agree that the status quo is not fair on Ethiopia.

You have the authority to do that? Just asking, though I would prefer you wouldn't. I could easily see how one could perceive a bias.

That is a pure conflict of interest & quite unfair - an Egyptian dictating a Nile thread. If you are a moderator, you should be able to remove those "uncivilized" selected postings; you can't simply lock down the entire thread because of few emotionally charged postings.

I was expecting someone to make such a comment.

I'm a citizen of earth, just like you, I do not represent any government. I was appointed mod for the forums in general, not only this thread. Because of my nationality, are you saying I cant punish someone when/if they violate the rules?

All I was saying is, debate as openly as you wish, there are no restrictions, as long as you respect other members at all times, and dont violate any rules. This thread will remain open for discussion.

My nationality has nothing to do with it!

Punish?!!!!? Don't be carried away with this mod thing here. This thread and all Ethiopian threads had been just fine over the years. We appreciate your interest but honestly you are not needed.

Also if you are a mod for all wouldn't it be more appropriate you change your moderator name to something that doesn't show your nationality so vividly, and keep "Egypt69" for normal usage? You will be successful better that way.

Egypt69? What does that mean anyway, does it have to do with the 69 sex position? If it doesn't you will have to constantly explain it to those new comers. Change this name.
