Funny how some stadiums which are being renovated have to demolish the lower rings (like Maracanã). Couldn't the original design foresee such a thing?

Considering the fact that their "original design" is some 50 years old (by that time, they were the state of the art), no, they couldn't

I am amazed how much the uper tier overhangs the lower one. Maybe it`s to cover as much as posible seats/palces considering that the roof 50 years ago couldn`t be as big as it is`s posible nowdays. This is not the only one stadion with this kind of design an as I see it, it is tipical for Brasil alongside the oval shape.

Actually, the roof for this particular stadium is rather recent - some 10, 15 years.

Very good. Finally Brazil does have brandnew football stadiums with no tracks. Congratulations to Brazillian fans. You deserve to have them.

Castelao Stadium has a new lower tier, luxury boxes incorporated into upper tier, new exterior facade, and new roof covering entire stands... two thumbs up.

![]() Apparently, the black screens that are in the coverage are LED screens. You can see it in the last render

A few days ago, the west stand of the Castelao stadium was imploded.

The new renders look very nice; elegant curve to the stands, sharp sightlines, relatively close to the pitch, nice, if a little cold looking exterior. Its good to see some of these designs improving, I just wish I could say the same thing about the Maracana...
