Once people discover that streetcar is FINALLY open, they will begin to ride it. I just found out today! Right now, it is a novelty but it will join the network as more people in the neighborhood discover it. Any chance of it extending west to toward the National Mall? That is where the riders are!

I'm not sure that is the case with this line which nothing more then an expensive short shuttle that duplicates an existing Bus system which is more frequent..

It's not BRT, just enhanced bus lanes.

The amount of stupid signage American road users are succumbed to is staggering.

One parameter in assessing metro railroad efficiency is to compare with omnibus ridership.

There is a lot of bleeding reds in that ridership analysis. A shame...

yes, I'm alive. clean and newer than New York. We spent 3 days in Washington and we travelled with metro and by foot.
I will hope, in a early future, to return in NY and Washington

A proposed bus route would connect National Harbor and MGM Casino in Maryland to Alexandria, VA. This would be the first bus route between Maryland and Virginia.

Maryland Purple Line light rail secures federal loan
Friday, June 17, 2016

THE United States Department of Transportation has awarded a Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (Tifia) loan of $US 874.6m to Purple Line Transit Partners for the $US 2bn Maryland Purple Line light rail public-private partnership (PPP) project

"The Washington metropolitan region is one of the most congested areas in the country, and viable transportation alternatives are needed to accommodate a growing population," says US transportation secretary Mr Anthony Foxx. "When completed, the Maryland Purple Line will connect residents in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties with improved access to jobs, education and medical care and, overall, will help improve the quality of life"
