Colombo | Diamond Towers | 59 fl / U/C

" The largest engineering company in India, L&T Infrastructure Development Projects, is keen to invest in major infrastructure projects Chief Operating Officer, L&T Infrastructure in Sri Lanka, Vishal Mathur told the Sunday Observer.

Commenting on the Diamond Towers, a joint venture with The National Housing Development Authority, which would be Sri Lanka’s tallest building, he said that they hope to start work on the project by the end of this year.

Located at Darley Road, the US$ 150 million investment project is scheduled to be completed in 2012. The 246-metre tower consisting of 59 floors and 1.5 million square feet, will include 177 luxury residential apartments on 19 floors, six penthouses and 128 serviced apartments on eight floors, while nine floors will be used for vehicle parking.

He said that with political stability there would also be more investments coming to the country. “Many investors who had second thoughts on investing would now invest in Sri Lanka,” he added. "

Here is the architects site (with some renderings of the tower): http://www.poncedeleonarchitects.com...royecto_id=147

L&T is a legit company (unlike some other companies who have tried to start up some property projects previously) so lets hope this actually goes ahead!

I dont think its the company that is facing problems, im guessing lack of investments in SL thats is causing all sorts of problem. Its a 60 story building. Even 20 and 30 story buildings in colombo are being delayed due to lack of investments. It might take a awhile, maybe a year, lets just wait for awhile. : )

There was a set-back on the back of Ceylinco collapse due to credit being evaporated and owing investor sentiment, however most sri lankan projects went ahead except Mayfair complex. If you drive around the city now there are plenty of sites and SL wont be affected due to gloomy global out look coz sri lankan economy is not mainly export oriented like S'pore.
Fingers crossed , to be honest I dont trust Indian project until I see them!

I thought Colombo will completely change its skyline within 2014 -15 but I don't think so now. if all approved and new projects starts this year or next year and if they continue them without any interruption. then all of them are going to be finished on 2017-2018 right. as well as new highways. and if we won the commonwealth bit this will be a good addition to hambantota. we can also promote Colombo as a business hub.
yea man you are right. let's hope for the best. .

^Man you guys really hate us.
And Saraprobe, since you "dont trust Indian project until I see them", here look at Mumbai. All Indian projects completed, U/C and many supertalls.

Anyways, when this is built, it will look great. The design is very nice! And the best part is the cladding!
