Quick question:

I previously thought that the upper portals were pre-coated with the white paint. Since they are grey and (if I am not mistaken) should be white, how will they paint them? I assume they will apply the white coating before they erect them onto the main structure at a staging area of some sort? I imagine it would be extremely difficult to put up scaffolding around the wings and portals to coat them with the white paint after they are erected!

They will be painted from cherry pickers, scaffolding, and scissor lifts like the top of the PATH Hall was/is.

Sorry for the already probably answered question but when will the big vertical spars go in? The ones that go way above ground and are the main visual element of this station.

I really want to start seeing something when I go by this site - we still see nothing from street level.

Those are the first transition/arch segments that will be attached adjacent to abutments, there you can see the beginning of skylight.

Is it just me, or have one of those large sections been taken down again, because the structure on the above photos, I can't see on the webcam...

The "Skyline View" EarthCam camera shows the final piece of the 1 WTC antenna in place, where the "Live" camera does not.

Strange.

Strange.
I think you are probably just noticing that the latest piece of the antenna appears to be a slightly different color, but it is not the final piece.

I counted the rings on the mast, and there was definitely a section on top of a ring. No ring was on top of the section either. Now it's gone... maybe they had to take it back down.

But it WAS there.

You should post this in 1WTC thread, not in transportation hub thread.

Well, it's all on the same construction site. Just trying to get and share a little knowledge here.

They took down one of the pieces when I checked the camera early this morning. I hope we don't keep running into misalignment issues with this project.

I prefer "fine tuning"... "misalignment" sounds so negative.

Speaking of fine tuning, the last 3 lower portal pieces went in (back in) (again) (for the umpteenth time) today. Lets hope that's it for the fine tuning of those pieces, and they can now move on to the above ground stuff.
