In other words, I hope the BIM render is only the structural steel and there is an architectural surface to be placed over the current structure at the abutments so as to not have a flat wall on either end with a steel awning as the only decoration.

Long time lurker who just wants to ask why every time I look at the live cam, the cranes are still and there are no workers on the ground? Why even erect two cranes if they're not going to be constantly used? Doesn't matter what time of day it is, nothing seems to be getting done. Hell, even Frank Gehry's building in Paris has outpaced this one!

I must say, this project was quite difficult, but we have made many high complex jobs with really good results that were fabricated in Italy. We are not that bad, to be frank!

frank
Italian stuff always seems to be of high quality, so don't worry.

Yes, that is correct. A set of organic surfaces should create a connection between the tangential surfaces on the portal/transition/rafters and the culminating point that marks the connection between north and south.

Regarding your previous question, the answer is yes. Last rendering is actually innacurate since it shows part of the transition segments obstructing the passageway where the glass panels will retract, the whole "chamber" should be continuous, unobstructed and smooth. I haven't bothered to edit these details and will not care unless I receive the drawings required to get the thing completely accurate, I just hate to waste too much time editing complex geometry that in the end might be wrong when I could try only once and spot it on.

Enclos is responsible for skylight project, too much work, detail and modification has been done since drawing proposal by the SC/DDP.

google glass doesn't seem to handle the dark-light transition very well

there is a lot of progress being made here.

i am not sure that the peanut gallery here has a good idea of how much fine adjustment is required and the amount of weld that has to be put down to complete these joints.

everthing here looks like it is made out at least 1" pl.

The same person on untappedNY did a tour of 1wtc. She's completely useless. How can you visit the WTC Transportation Hub and 1WTC and have nothing to say or show?

The photo published by Mockai is just stunning, great contrast between the natural light from above and the orange tone from underneath...
Wish it was hi-res...

That last picture is an HDR shot. To make one you take pictures from the same position and only change the exposure. You take the parts of each exposure that are easily seen (not underexposed in the short exposure or bleached out in the long exposure). The majority of work in the shot you see will mostly be interior work done after the oculus is closed off from the weather.

On top of 1 WTC, it looks like there's a little red crane set up, possibly to take down the last large crane. Maybe that means they're one step closer to finishing!

I hope that's not too far off topic, but there doesn't seem much about the Hub to talk about lately.

It's definitely off-topic and should have been posted on the 1 WTC thread and not here! There's not much going on with the hub it's okay we can talk about what's happening with other buildings in their threads. This thread doesn't have to have posts every day, especially if nothing's happening!

That is the future entrance of Oculus that is connected to Fulton MTA underground passageway, known as Dey ST. connection

Shot from model I did (still unfinished) of oculus.

Some new upper portals have been placed on the west end, but difficult to see on the webcam. Two new, relatively large upper portals also just arrived on site..
