About the size of the entrance: from upper pics, you can see it would fit a medium-sized truck sideways!

One more pair of transition segments placed today on the west side...

During the last month there is progress on Saturdays too...

P.S. Factoid: Each one of the 110 transition segments plus the four similar segments over the entrances is different from each other, due to the different sizes of the rafters they're gonna carry...

To be more specific, there is no two exact pieces in the whole hub project.

Signature Calatrava wastefulness.

There are exits from the underground portion to the north and south of main hub, however.

True. There is a certain slope in the whole site (the east entrance is at a higher level than the west one) so all the portals and lower portals are also different...

(thx Otie for the pics!)

Thanks for these pics! I could see there was a mock-up of something from the overhead view, now I see it is some windows.

Thanks again.

from http://www.lowermanhattan.info/news/...cts_43568.aspx

Quote:
Elsewhere at the World Trade Center (WTC) site, major progress can be seen at the WTC Transportation Hub, where its massive steel "ribs" are being welded into place. By late 2013, they will form the arched roof of the oculus, and will serve as the base of the hub's "wings," which will become visible by approximately next spring.

The first major component of the Transportation Hub will soon open, though no date has yet been announced. According to Guzi, the renamed "west concourse" -- the underground pedestrian tunnel from the World Financial Center -- is nearing completion and will lead pedestrians to and from the Winter Garden, under West Street, and through the temporary PATH station on Vesey Street.

I believe we have been miscounting. Looks like this is "1 NE" and the ones already in place are 2 through 10.

Yep makes sense, I did not even realize that one was missing until it went in. Looking at it now it makes sense as that piece is much different for the entrance.

Here's a link to that cam. If you hit F5 on your keyboard, you can update it:

Thanks to the folks who showed me that.

The camera isn't refreshing since last evening, including all the views. This isn't the first time this has happened. It's usually back up in a few days.
