just for clarification

The sides touching eachother are the first bolted slice flange. In fact the lips carry their own drilled flanges and there won't be any more lip stiffener in the middle of the coming segments. The man is just making a piece of rod bar going through the holes on one flange to the others on the opposite one. This to force (with a leverage) the alignment of the the holes. Then the first bolt can be tightened.

We detailed all the arch segments for the workshop. Sectors in place were called "welded", next ones are going to be "bolted", this is the only one we called "welded/bolted" for is quarter (so 4 in total).

Hope I was helpfull.

I assume the picture on wtc facebook page was just a fit check because they did not leave the two pieces bolted together. The west side welded/bolted are in place(they seemed to be loaded one at a time). It does seem there is only one welded/bolted piece on site for the east side unless I cannot see it (hidden behind something).

Exquisite. The lighting is really well executed; they haven't simply showered light all over the beams. It's actually quite understated, which I did not expect.

If this simple passageway is anything to go by, the main hub and oculus will be spectacular. I cannot wait to visit one day.

Looks fantastic! I love the new entrance of Brookfield Place, it matches the ribs well.

Those escalators look like the original ones that led to the Twin Towers.

From wtcprogress,

"The West Concourse at the WTC Transportation Hub designed by Santiago Calatrava opened today for the public at 1:30PM"

"Port Authority of NY & NJ, Westfield and Brookfield leadership tour WTC West Concourse."

Does anyone know where that upper level/balcony leads to? The connection to 1WTC?

Its a second level of retail. (There will also be retail at the concourse level (where the black panels are now) Both levels will have connections to 1 WTC.

Coming back to the east vs. west discussion, this pic from http://www.weartrends.com/PhotoShow....5202923976.jpg shows that there are 10 transition pieces on both sides on the western side vs. 11 on the eastern side (can be counted using earthcam) at the moment.. so the eastern side is slightly ahead, but there is constant progress on both sides..
