The more I look at that, the more it looks like part of one of the transition segments. Does it look like one to anybody else?

I can't post a picture here, but does this link/picture help explain my theory?

The part in the red box may correspond to the part(s) in the green box:

Gotcha. Besides this glass addition for the elevators under West St, is anything significant being added?

There looks like some brand new plywood is at 3 WTC:

I heard a lease agreement was close... maybe raising the tower crane a while back and this new (forming?) might be a sign that things are about to start up again.

Good to hear. I noticed that views out the WFC escalator headhouse glass wall showed all types of construction barriers/fencing between the WFC & West St.

Sorry to post about another project on the Hub thread, but the only wood I see is for building a roof above the temporary elevator. The crane was raised to install ductwork and other equipment. Construction would take a while to restart and we haven't heard confirmation of a deal. Back to the Hub, I think the white structure might be temporary bracing for the lower portals. Currently, the portals are stabilized with cable, but each one has to be anchored further out as the height of the portals increases. I would imagine that the cables would soon interfere with the staging areas.

Went down to walk through the completed part on Sunday afternoon:

Starting on the Brookfield end.

The new escalators down.

The walkway. Seemed to be about 100 yards in length. Maybe 150.

I have to say, it looks better in these pictures than it did in real life. Up close the white was from what looked like some white plaster or thick white paint. It sort of looked cheap.

I was walking towards the PATH station and this walkway effectively ends and you have to go through a door to get to the PATH station. This is what you enter through the door:

Bizarre.

Outside I think took some sunset pics of the transportation center.

Really wish this would come along faster.

I guess when people see the banner on this page that says, "General Urban Developments Discussions of projects shorter than 100m/300ft. Also, please post all other threads not specified in other Development News subforums here.", they might think it refers to any project under 100m/300ft.

I know I did.

The dimensions of this white structure are relatively big, as you can see it's quite high, it doesn't seem to fit into the skylight spaces of the transition segments... Question mark there. Just speculating, maybe it fits between the portals...

(from my last visit at the site 10 days ago)

PS: The West Concourse is just awesome, the arches on the ceiling and the white marble on the floor and walls give you a true sense of architectural ingenuity and quality in construction... I felt totally uplifted walking through this walkway from the rather terrible PATH station to the Brookfield Place's new grand entrance...

Oh yeah, that's definetely a mockup. What you're seeing is the metalic catwalks covering the skylight machinery, maintenance personnel will eventually walk over those narrow surfaces. Notice also the guy wires on the background holding up the upper portals recently added.
