Nice!

I expect things to pick up now that we're approaching Spring.

I'm baffled by the amount of progress made on this throughout the winter. Just goes to show how tough these workers are!

Work continues at the WTC Transportation Hub upper “mezzanine” level walk-way, the home of future retail storefronts.

You can really see this building starting to take shape in these photos. Should be one of Calatrava's best. It's going to be an exciting spring/summer.

Yes that artwork does seem extremely dated, like you say very 80s. I'm surprised that there aren't screens or billboards along that wall like many of London's tube stations

At least it's clean.
Really, could one ask any more?
(My standards are probably way too low)

This artwork is really ugly and completely destroys the simplicity of the beauty of this platform.

Still the World Trade Center Transportation Hub will be an amazing example of how public space should be designed. Calatrava was a fantastic choice.

lol. One person's beautiful simplicity is another person's soul-destroying emptiness of stark white rectangles.

My personal tastes do not favor all white spaces that are devoid of shapes, color and texture. To me, that seems more a psychological expirement in depriving living creatures of an environment that can actually sustain life.

But yeah, many people love that school of design.

I agree that the hub is astonishingly beautiful. To people who work in or pass through the WTC, I suspect it will be what makes the complex special. Or at least more so than any of the towers.

Personally I like new buildings having hints of 50s-80s retro in them. Gives it more familiarity.

Yeah you are absolutely right. Design is not a matter of taste but conscious decisions that have a massive impact on human senses and behavior. Minimalism feels for many people very steril and intimidates them. I refuse to accept that minimalism deprives us from an environment that contains life but this is a very complicated discussion.

This structure still remains ugly in my perspective. Shapes, color and texture can be used and the result can be great if you design in consideration of the space that you are going to influence. I personally prefer a design that contains the name of the station.
